Prepare Your PS5 SSD!

With only a few days left before the release of Final Fantasy 16, the excitement for a new Final Fantasy game is at an all-time high. Recently, Square Enix released a demo for the game, allowing PlayStation 5 owners to try the first two hours.

While the game is launching on June 22, fans have been able to obtain physical copies before launch. This has revealed a number of new details, including the game’s size requirements.

According to the information on the physical box, Final Fantasy 16 will require over 100GB of storage on the PlayStation 5.

Why it matters: Games have increased in size over the last few years. However, modern consoles still offer limited storage.

The video above shows a user unboxing the game, and revealing the storage requirement.

Final Fantasy 16 is a highly ambitious game that will showcase the power of PlayStation 5. It features breathtaking visuals and large-scale set pieces, which can explain the large file size.

Previously, games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor required nearly 150GB of storage. The upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 recommends over 100GB of storage, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will also require similar storage, as it ships with two discs.

As such, Final Fantasy 16 is the latest example among various games asking for a chunk of storage. This also means that owners who have not upgraded their PlayStation 5 SSD will require nearly 15% of usable storage for the upcoming title.

A recent report claimed that Final Fantasy 16 pre-orders were much lower than Square’s expectations. However, the recent demo has received great reception, and previews have also painted an exciting picture for the final release.

With the game launching in just six days, fans can use this opportunity to upgrade their PlayStation 5 storage. Since its launch, the console has added support for multiple third-party PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs, allowing users to upgrade storage without much hassle.
