Director Elaborates On Shift From Elden Ring!

After almost a decade of no new installments in the series, FromSoftware is finally revisiting the Armored Core franchise, and the upcoming installment, Armored Core 6, is scheduled for August 25, 2023.

There has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming Armored Core game. FromSoftware has found incredible success in the open world genre recently, and many fans were curious if Armored Core would also implement an open world.

However, FromSoftware has clarified that Armored Core 6 will not be based on an open world.

Why it matters: While an open world may work for Elden Ring and Souls games, the same is not necessarily true for Armored Core because it brings its unique offerings.

In a recent interview with the development team, the Director was asked if they ever thought about implementing an open-world into Armored Core 6. He replied that this was considered but ultimately abandoned.

He stated:

“As a result of discussions, it was concluded that it should not be made into a title centered on movement and exploration, such as Elden Ring or Souls series.”

Therefore, the team decided to make the game stand out from previous FromSoftware releases like Elden Ring or Dark Souls. According to the Director, Armored Core 6 will focus on customization and parts assembly so that the players can pick the best build for the missions.

Armored Core 6 also features fast-paced movement and boosters. Therefore, the developers have decided to focus on this aspect of gameplay, to ensure players are satisfied with the controls and gameplay mechanics.

However, this does not mean that exploration will not be important. The Director states that players can still enjoy exploring the maps, even if the map is based on a different gameplay style.

Armored Core dates back to 1997. The game had a long break after its most recent release, and the next entry looks extremely promising, and judging from the anticipation around the game, this could be another big win for FromSoftware.
