Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Xbox Listing Hints At Real Gambling

Real Gambling In Assassin's Creed?

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is finally set to release a new game since the Viking RPG adventure in 2020. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will return to the classic style of gameplay, something that many fans have wanted for a while.

With an October 12 release date, the game is just a few months away, and plenty of details have now been revealed about Basim’s upcoming adventure. However, a recent piece of information from the Xbox store could be worrying for fans.

According to the Xbox storefront, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will feature real gambling.

Why it matters: While microtransactions have been a part of the franchise for several years, real gambling is rarely seen in AAA games.

AC Mirage will contain "Real Gambling/Paid Contests" according to the updated storepage on Xbox.

According to the ESRB, the real gambling label means that players can gamble in real currency instead of bets on in-game currency.

The rumors of Assassin’s Creed Mirage featuring real gambling started last year when the game was rated Adults Only by ESRB for having “real gambling.” However, Ubisoft was quick to deny these rumors.

But the rumors have returned as the US and UK Xbox store pages for the Assassin’s Creed Mirage show the same thing. Interestingly, the PlayStation store page does not mention gambling.

The game has not been officially rated by the ESRB and PEGI yet. Since Ubisoft previously denied these rumors, it is strange that an updated listing still highlights gambling even after the developer’s clarification.

As such, it is difficult to make any definitive conclusions about real gambling in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Ubisoft will likely make an official statement on the matter to clear the situation for good. While fans have been looking forward to the game, real gambling could push some away from the anticipated title.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available on current and last-gen consoles. It will also include a much bigger focus on stealth, parkour, and Assassin abilities compared to the RPG trilogy.

The game will be a much smaller experience than recent releases from Ubisoft, with a $50 price tag reflecting the change in the developer’s scope.
