Following a massive resurgence in the horror genre, another classic franchise is set to make a comeback. Alone in the Dark has not been revisited for nearly a decade, but THQ has been hard at work on a new game for modern audiences.
A new showcase for the game has now been announced for May 25 at 5 PM PST, and the developer has also shared a small teaser clip to set expectations.
Why it matters: Alone in the Dark is among the oldest games in the horror genre, and the IP predates iconic horror franchises like Resident Evil. As such, its importance to the genre cannot be denied.

The developer previously revealed more details about Alone in the Dark in 2022. This reveal also included several minutes of gameplay.
Alone in the Dark will serve as a reboot, bringing the classic franchise to both new and older audiences. With over five years of development and recent horror games setting a high bar, expectations are, unsurprisingly, high for THQ’s upcoming release.
The game will be released only for current-gen consoles and PC, utilizing the hardware for gorgeous visuals and a tense atmosphere. Previous details also confirmed that the game would feature two playable characters.
A release date for the returning horror franchise seems likely, along with new gameplay and more details during the event, with the developer also promising to illuminate the mysteries shrouding the game.
