PC Platform Outperformed All Consoles By $27 Million In Q1-2023!

Activision Blizzard’s released Q1-2023 financial report shows that the PC platform outperformed consoles by $27 million at the beginning of 2023, following a pattern with the publisher of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch 2 that has been consistent for almost a year.

According to the financial report, the company generated $2383 million in the first quarter of 2023, representing great growth compared to $1768 million in Q1 2022.

Most revenue was generated from the Americas region, followed by EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) and Asia-Pacific. Activision reported $652 million in the Americas, compared to Blizzard’s $257 million and King’s $473 million.

Regarding revenue overall in the gaming world, the undisputed leader was mobile games. These generated nothing less than USD 956 million. Thanks to Candy Crush, which reported 720 million dollars. Activision games like Call of Duty reported 137 million. Finally, 99 million dollars were added to Blizzard with games like Diablo Immortal on mobile.

The PC overtook consoles. Specifically, it entered $666 million thanks to Blizzard games (386 million). Diablo, Overwatch, or World of Warcraft are one of the main reasons. Consoles weren’t far behind with $639 million. Thanks solely to Activision for their Call of Duty or Destiny.

All platforms have generated more revenue, but PC was the one that grew the most. Not bad, considering that the PC has faced the PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X | S, and One consoles in addition to the Nintendo Switch.

Blizzard is currently the biggest PC growth factor within Activision. Although Blizzard’s games only earn half as much as Call of Duty, 72% of that revenue is on PC and just 8% on the console.

Call of Duty revenues are more spread out: 59% console, 26% PC, and 15% mobile. Blizzard’s console audience could grow significantly when Diablo 4 launches simultaneously on PC and consoles in June. This joint launch is a milestone in the saga.
