Nvidia Reportedly Reduced GeForce RTX 4090 Supply To Boost RTX 4080 Sales

Weird Move From Green Camp!

Despite its hefty pricing, the GeForce RTX 4090 has been selling too well, while the GeForce RTX 4080 is doing the complete opposite. There are some rumors that Nvidia will reduce the price of the GeForce RTX 4080 to make it look more attractive in terms of value for money.

Although the precise timing of this price cut is still unknown, it is long overdue given the number of times that similar rumors have occurred in the past and the fact that, due to its performance-to-price ratio, the graphics card hasn’t been as well-liked as the other two Geforce RTX 40 options.

On the other hand, Radeon RX 7900 XTX is around $200 US cheaper than the Geforce GTX 4080, which isn’t very competitive given that the XTX can perform better in many games. NVIDIA may reduce the price to $1000 if they want to be even more competitive, but this is to be determined.

We understand that the most obvious solution is not always the most interesting one but for economic reasons, NVIDIA’s solution is much more aggressive and it might not be liked by many.

The most logical thing to increase GeForce RTX 4080 sales would be via price cut or promotion but Nvidia is doing the opposite by not supplying as many GeForce RTX 4090 until the existing stock of GeForce RTX 4080 is depleted based on the report of MLID.

Given the difference in performance and VRAM, it seems that NVIDIA is also pushing the sales of the GeForce RTX 4080 above that of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. The question is, will they get it? Will the supply of the RTX 4090 return to normal levels once the GeForce RTX 4080 inventory is depleted? Let’s hope the green camp accounted for all these questions before taking this approach.
