Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition Takes Up 120GB On PS5

First PS5 Game To Ship With Two Discs!

The Horizon franchise has made a name for itself as a significant part of PlayStation’s first-party library. With over 33 million sales to date, 8.4 million of those sales come from Horizon Forbidden West.

The game is poised to continue this success through a PC port next year and a re-release for the PS5 in October. Arriving on 6 October, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition will bundle all the contents of the game as one package for the PS5.

This bundling of the game and its DLC has led to a massive surge in storage requirements. According to a leaked image of the physical copy, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition will require 120GB of free space on PS5.

Why it matters: This requirement makes the complete edition one of the largest games on the PS5, resulting in the need for multiple discs.

The hefty storage requirement also means that Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition will ship on two blue-ray discs since a single PS5 disc can handle up to 100GB of storage.

Therefore, the game has become the first PS5 release to ship on two discs. Previously, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was confirmed to include two discs in the package, but it will no longer be the first to do so.

The complete edition includes the Burning Shores DLC, which was exclusive to the PS5. As such, the complete edition will not be released for the PS4. Other content, like the digital soundtrack and an art book, will also be included.

Following the release of the complete edition, fans can anticipate the PC port coming in 2024. As expected, Nixxes Software will lead the project, hoping to ensure PlayStation releases yet another well-optimized title for the PC gaming crowd.

The PC version is expected to require a similar amount of storage, but further enhancements could result in the game asking for even more storage next year.

The future of the Horizon franchise also appears to be promising, as Guerrilla Games does not plan to abandon the IP anytime soon. Therefore, Aloy will soon return for more exciting adventures on PlayStation.
