Story Highlight
  • Ninja Theory has confirmed the system requirements for Hellblade 2.
  • It recommends a GeForce RTX 3080 for the best results at 1440p.
  • The PC port will support Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS.

Hellblade 2 is the biggest game of May. Following highly-rated releases like Dragon’s Dogma 2, Stellar Blade, and Helldivers 2 earlier this year, Xbox is finally ready to kick off its first-party lineup.

The game is set for a May 21 release, and Ninja Theory has just announced the official system requirements. As expected, Hellblade 2 will push PC hardware to the limits, with the team recommending a GeForce RTX 3080 for 1440p gaming.

Why it matters: Hellblade 2 is poised to be a major technical showcase for the industry this year, with analysts expecting it to go down as 2024’s best-looking title.

The game’s system requirements land somewhere in the middle. Hellblade 2 is not the most intensive game PC enthusiasts will find in 2024, but it does not seem to be light on hardware either.

For 1080p, Ninja Theory recommends a GeForce RTX 2070 for gameplay at Medium settings. The team has not confirmed a frame rate target with this hardware, but this is slightly worse than what the Xbox Series X offers in terms of GPU capabilities.

Over on the CPU side, the team recommends a Ryzen 5 3600X or an Intel Core i5-9600. The former is a very close comparison to the CPU found in the Xbox Series X, but Hellblade 2 targets 30FPS on consoles.

Elsewhere, Nvidia’s mainstream 4K graphics card from 2020, the GeForce RTX 3080, is recommended as being suitable for 1440p High settings when paired with a Ryzen 5 5600X or an Intel Core i7-10700K. AMD users can expect similar results when using a Radeon RX 6800 XT.

Hellblade 2 seems to pull no punches at 4K, asking for the $1000 GeForce RTX 4080 or its Super variant. CPU requirements remain fairly light at this resolution, and all settings appear to work just fine with 16GB of memory.

Hellblade 2 Could Be A Huge Breakthrough For Unreal Engine 5 Games

Ninja Theory utilizes Unreal Engine 5, and Hellblade 2’s limited scope means that each part of the narrative experience has received a lot of attention.

This may explain the system requirements leaning more on the higher end, though such requirements have more or less become the norm for AAA games in 2024.

Ninja Theory has also confirmed DLSS 3, FSR 3, and even XeSS 1.3 support for the PC version. These inclusions provide hope for a feature-packed port since PC gamers have certainly been starved for great ports in recent years.
