The Xbox Series X has just achieved a unique yet impressive feat. While most gaming consoles want to earn accolades in performance and convenience, the Series X has just unlocked an achievement for being indestructible

TikTok user @kai_doggett14 posted a video of his Xbox Series X that miraculously survived a devastating house fire. Sadly, the user’s house burned down recently due to unknown reasons, but amid the terrible misfortune was a bit of positive news for Kai. His Xbox Series X was found relatively unscathed, despite enduring some cosmetic damage, and perhaps even more miraculously, it still worked!

How the user found his Xbox Series X after the fire.

Upon finding the console, Kai plugged it into the wall and pushed the power button. Immediately, the Xbox logo lit up, and the console sprang to life. Mind you, the exterior of the console was pretty badly warped and damaged by the fire, but the internals seemed to have absorbed the damage quite well.

He plugged it in, pushed the power button, and it still worked.

There was clear evidence of heat damage on the top where the fan sits, and the facade itself was charred and warped in places. The disc drive was also bent out of shape and probably didn’t work, but the console itself certainly did.

In a separate TikTok video, the user was seen playing the Xbox inside his car, with a portable monitor setup that he had fixed up. The game was running just fine, and the Xbox did not show any major signs of internal damage. Commenters were quick to name the burned console “Xblob” since it very much looked like an ugly duckling with its fire damage.

After some people were still left unconvinced by the Xbox’s ability to run a proper game, Kai uploaded a third video as proof that his burned Xbox could still hang with the best. The user booted up Arc Raiders and blessed us with 1 minute and 30 seconds of uninterrupted gameplay, with no frame drops or artifacting whatsoever. That Xbox is really made of some stern stuff.

It played Arc Raiders just fine.

This reminds me of another post I saw on the r/Xbox subreddit, where an Xbox One S survived a similar house fire. It also had plenty of cosmetic damage, but apparently still worked well. Someone needs to ask Microsoft what they’re using to make these Xbox consoles.

A similar incident was spotted before.

Of course, the Xbox Series X surviving the fire is great, but it is just one small beam of happiness enveloped by a bigger tragedy. According to @PastorXbox on X, the console was the “only thing that survived” the devastating house fire. Our condolences go to Kai for his tragic loss.

Commenters under Kai’s TikTok posts were quick to throw shade at Sony and their PlayStation consoles, saying “PlayStation could never.” While I’m not sure about that, I certainly wouldn’t want to find out the hard way. One thing is clear, that Series X is one tough console.
