The 25th Anniversary Edition Is Set To Launch In November 2026.

Story Highlight
  • CEO Asha Sharma gifted a special Series X variant to fans attending the Games showcase.
  • The 25th anniversary edition console boasts a translucent green design.
  • Everyone present at the LA FanFest will receive the console later this year.

Yesterday’s Xbox Games Showcase was a monumental one for the company. New CEO Asha Sharma finally announced the return of exclusivity to the platform, revealing that Gears of War E-Day would be an Xbox Series X|S console exclusive following a period of deliberation.

Fans also got a glimpse at third-party projects like Crazy Taxi World Tour and Metro 2039. However, the biggest moment for those attending the show came at the end, when Asha Sharma and CCO Matt Booty announced that fans will be getting a special edition Xbox Series X on the house.

Why it matters: As Xbox tries to regain the console market share it has lost to PlayStation, keeping its core fanbase intact is also important, and the new CEO is doing exactly that with moves like this.

While addressing attendees at the Xbox FanFest event in LA, Asha Sharma revealed that everyone who came to watch the showcase will get the 25th anniversary edition Xbox Series X for free.

Revealed last night, this special console variant will feature a translucent green design reminiscent of the original Xbox branding, with the “X” symbol lighting up when you turn the console on as a callback to the first Xbox. Furthermore, a wireless controller with the same shade, plastered with the original logo, was also announced alongside the Xbox Series X25.

Asha Sharma revealed that this special edition console will launch in November, and everyone attending the FanFest in LA will be given the anniversary products free of charge later this year.

This limited edition of the console is a love letter to the original Xbox.

This incredible gift to fans of Xbox is just one of the many things the new CEO has done right since taking over the company. Sharma has reduced Game Pass prices, built a dedicated system for player complaints, and, as of last night, has finally brought exclusives to the platform in the form of Clockwork Revolution and Gears of War.

Do you think Asha Sharma has made all the right decisions so far as the CEO of Xbox? Can the company go toe-to-toe with Sony in the upcoming generation? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
