Microsoft Says Windows 11 Constantly Improving!

Story Highlight
  • Microsoft says that Windows 11 is already showing remarkable improvements with things like boot times.
  • The company is also optimizing memory management further, though it did not share a substantial update in this regard.
  • Microsoft says that future Windows updates will make these improvements very apparent to users.

Windows 11 has long been criticized for being overly demanding, but Microsoft has now begun working on optimizing the operating system.

As memory shortages and price hikes continue putting pressure on the market, Microsoft is also optimizing the OS for 8GB of memory. Sharing a small update on this work, the company stated that steady progress is currently being made.

Why it matters: Windows 11 is among the world’s most popular operating systems due to the number of customers that rely on desktops and laptops with Microsoft’s software.

Windows 11 on 8GB of Memory Will Be Much Better Soon

Speaking at IFA 2026 (Innovation For All) via Windows Latest, Microsoft’s Corporate VP of Windows noted that many things have already changed within the operating system.

Mark Linton pointed out that the team has made particular progress in areas like boot times and Windows Hello responsiveness. He also discussed the current focus on memory optimization.

Although the VP did not go into specifics, he noted that Windows 11 should run great on 8GB systems once all optimizations are completed. As per Microsoft, the company’s focus is on doing as much as it can to improve the fundamental Windows experience.

We’ve made significant gains on things like boot times. We’re listening to customer feedback, continuously improving Windows.

All of this and more, Mark Linton claims, should become apparent as Microsoft begins to ship Windows 11 updates with these changes. For now, Windows 11 optimizations remain a work in progress.
