The Assassin’s Creed series has several beloved entries, and with the release of Black Flag Resynced, reverence for the series is yet again at an all-time high. Many have also begun discussing potential future remakes from the series, leading to Assassin’s Creed Unity coming up in conversations again.
While many feel the game doesn’t necessarily need a remake, it was among Ubisoft’s worst launches back in 2014. On that subject, a veteran developer believes Assassin’s Creed Unity is still incredibly underrated.
Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Unity marked Ubisoft’s first big next-gen entry in 2014, and the game aimed to push the series forward in a big way.
As reported by GamesRadar, Ubisoft veteran Jean Guesdon recently reminisced about Assassin’s Creed Unity and discussed its shortcomings and strengths.
The developer admitted that work on the project was extremely hard as Ubisoft was working on multiple ground-breaking technologies at the time, and it became difficult for the team to bring all of them together in a cohesive manner in time for launch.
Still, he later went on to admit that Assassin’s Creed Unity was more than its flaws. In fact, the developer called it one of the series’ most underestimated games.
AC Unity is one of the most underestimated games in the series. Sadly, Unity’s launch was a huge challenge because of several reasons.
Pushing tech and content at the same time is very demanding, and this opus maybe pushed too many things at once.
