Releasing On January 19!

Story Highlights
  • The Last of Us Part 2 was released in 2020.
  • Naughty Dog has officially announced a remaster over three years later.
  • This remaster can be bought for $10 through an upgrade for existing owners of the PS4 game.

The Last of Us games are among the few most stunning games out there. Both games in the series are notable PlayStation first-party games with a massive fandom.

While there is currently no news on the third installment in the series, a remaster for part 2 was recently revealed through the PlayStation backend. This remaster was previously found on a developer’s LinkedIn profile.

Following the latest discussions, Naughty Dog has officially announced the remaster of The Last of Us Part 2.

Why it matters: The Last of Us Part 2 was developed for the PS4, yet it still is one of the best-looking games. Therefore, a remaster could fine-tune it to perfection.

The new version boasts additional features not found in the PS4 release. Apart from typical enhancements like better visuals, Naughty Dog has added the following to this remaster:

  • A Roguelike Mode
  • 4K Output Support
  • Deleted Levels
  • Guitar Free Play

DualSense support is also included, as expected. Furthermore, those who already owned The Last of Us Part 2 on PS4 can get the remaster for $10. The game can be upgraded through both the digital and physical versions of the PS4 title.

Since the remaster has now been confirmed, fans are hopeful that a PC port is coming soon. This pattern was previously observed after the studio revealed The Last of Us Part 1 for PS5.

Horizon Forbidden West is the next PC port from PlayStation, but The Last of Us Part 2 could be next to follow.

The Last of Us Part 2

The remaster will be available on 19 January. Naughty Dog’s next game, The Last of Us Multiplayer, has faced a few challenges. The project is still in development, but no release date is in sight for now.

While this remaster will enhance an already great game, we believe the studio should focus on more new releases. Since 2020, the studio has only put out remasters and re-releases of existing titles.

Nonetheless, The Last of Us Part 2 Remaster will be a great release for newcomers introduced to this franchise through the recent TV show or the remake from last year.
