Signs Point To Mafia 4 Announcement!

Story Highlight
  • 2K has confirmed its presence at Summer Game Fest, promising a major reveal.
  • Following last month’s reports, many expect this game to be Mafia 4.
  • Other possibilities include Bioshock 4 and Borderlands 4.

Take-Two owns several major publishers, and 2K is one of them. This studio is behind the likes of Mafia, BioShock, and Borderlands franchises. Apart from Borderlands, both franchises have remained dormant for many years.

However, developers are already hard at work on new entries, with a recent report pointing to a nearing Mafia 4 reveal. Following this report, 2K confirms intentions to reveal a new game at Summer Game Fest.

Why it matters: 2K has many projects already in development, but it has yet to provide more details on these games, making Summer Game Fest the perfect opportunity for new trailers and details.

Mafia: Definitive Edition
Mafia 4 Could Be Released By Next Year

The official Twitter account of Summer Game Fest has announced that 2K will reveal a sequel to one of its biggest and most beloved franchises on 7th June2K has many franchises, but the three mentioned above would likely best fit this description.

While the tweet does not confirm which game to expect, Mafia 4 and Borderlands 4 are the most likely to show up. The next Bioshock game is also moving ahead, but 2K’s silence suggests that it needs more time.

Meanwhile, Mafia is undeniably among 2K’s most popular IPs. Therefore, fans have already begun to set their expectations for a new reveal next month.

Bioshock 4 Faces Competition From The Original Series Creator’s New Game

The Mafia franchise last saw a new release in 2020. Similarly, Borderlands 3 was released in 2019, though the IP’s spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, came out just two years ago.

Needless to say, most of 2K’s major single-player IPs have been away for quite some time.

Mafia 4 would benefit from releasing before GTA 6, so we hope to see this game as the reveal in question. With Rockstar confirming a Fall 2025 release window for GTA 6, the Mafia series has a full year to make the most of this time.
