Suicide Squad Gets Denuvo DRM on PC Ahead of Launch

Combining Denuvo & Always Online Requirement!

Story Highlights
  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches with an always-online requirement tomorrow.
  • Denuvo DRM has also been added to the game recently.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has struggled to find positive press coverage leading up to its release. The game is nearly ready to launch, but media sites have reportedly been left in the dark without review codes to counter this situation.

Still, many players claimed to have enjoyed the Alpha tests after the embargo was lifted recently. Just when things seemed to be improving for the game, Suicide Squad added Denuvo DRM to the PC version.

Why it matters: Games stealthily incorporating Denvuo have led to review bombings in the past, with the general public showing a distaste for this DRM technology.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Battle Pass Online Only Active Internet Connection

As shown on SteamDB, this anti-tamper protection was added to Suicide Squad on 20th January. The game officially launches on 30th January tomorrow, so some might not be happy that the DRM was not revealed beforehand.

It is important to note that Suicide Squad is an online-only title. Typically, such games are already well protected from piracy, but Rocksteady has stated that this requirement will be removed after launch.

Elsewhere, the co-op looter shooter recently received new details about file sizes. Suicide Squad takes up around 45GB on consoles. However, PC players require around 65GB to play this co-op adventure.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Audiences still hold on to the belief that Denuvo impacts in-game performance. This might be why many studios are keen on removing the DRM a year or two after games are launched.

With Suicide Squad being already quite unpopular, this addition may further dissuade PC gamers from purchasing the game at launch.

Still, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League might launch in a decent state for PC. Impressions from Alpha testers point to a much better port than Batman Arkham Knight, though that is not a very high bar to begin with.
