Stellar Blade Blood Rain’s Open-World Is More Alive Than Original, Combat Retains The Edge

The Combat Is Also Similar To The First Game.

Story Highlight
  • Stellar Blade Blood Rain’s gameplay was showcased to a select audience at Summer Game Fest.
  • Kinda Funny Gamescast revealed that the open world seemed more interesting and alive.
  • Furthermore, the game also retained the slick combat seen in the original.

The hype for Stellar Blade Blood Rain is through the roof, with Shift Up showcasing the first look at the game during Summer Game Fest. Despite some accusations of generative AI usage in the trailer, the buzz around the game is rather positive.

Now, the developer has finally given us a detailed showcase of the sequel, providing select media personnel with a more in-depth look at the action-adventure title.

Why it matters: The only flaw with Stellar Blade was its bland game world and uninteresting story. Shift Up has seemingly fixed one of the issues. Hence, if the narrative is better, the title can be a massive success.

The Kindy Funny Gamescast revealed that they played through the first 10 minutes of the game, saying that the open world looks a lot more interesting in Stellar Blade Blood Rain compared to the original.

This world already feels more interesting. Almost looks like the intro to Final Fantasy 7.

The podcast explained that the gameplay showcase features an extended version of the trailer where mutants chase the new protagonist, Evie. Unsurprisingly, Stellar Blade Blood Rain’s combat felt as good as the first title, featuring mechanised fists and an impressive sheen.

Furthermore, the podcast thought the intro was reminiscent of Final Fantasy 7, and the open world felt more alive and lived-in. With the sequel’s combat retaining the predecessor’s heavy feel, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain could be an even bigger success if the story works well.

The title’s director has also affirmed that the game will retain the appealing attire seen in the 2024 title. With Stellar Blade Blood Rain still in early development, however, it will be some time before fans get to try out the sequel.
