Sea of Thieves has managed to reach a huge player base. Rare has announced that their pirate title has managed to exceed 40 million players, which is huge, considering the title is heading towards a PlayStation launch in just over a month.

The studio took to its official website to write a heartfelt note to thank the players. They also thanked their team, who has delivered over 100 updates to keep the title going since launch. There’s also a lot more to come.

Furthermore, the studio expressed excitement about the prospect of expanding the community further. The PS5 port for Sea of Thieves releases later this month and will undoubtedly grow the pirate base even more.
