1. Process Node: The RTX 4070 Ti Super is produced using a more advanced 4nm manufacturing size, whereas the RTX 3080 Ti is made using an 8nm process size.
2. Clock Speed: Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super has an amazing 2610 MHz Boost Clock and a 2340 MHz Base Clock, and the RTX 3080 Ti, has a 1667 MHz Boost Clock and a 1370 MHz Base Clock.
3. VRAM: The RTX 3080 Ti comes equipped with 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM, while the RTX 4070 Ti Super offers a more generous 16GB of GDDR6X VRAM. It provides better support for modern games and higher resolutions.
4. TDP: With a TDP of 285W, the RTX 4070 Ti Super is noticeably more power-efficient than the RTX 3080 Ti, which has a TDP of 350W.

Gaming Performance – 2160p

Now that we are aware of how the numbers describe each of these cards. We will examine the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super vs. RTX 3080 Ti’s real-world performance. To accomplish this, we created a testbench specifically for these cards, the details of which are listed below:

TEST BENCH

• CPU: Core i9 13900K
• SSD: CORSAIR MP700 PRO 2TB Gen5 NVMe SSD      
• RAM: Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB 2x16GB DDR5
• Motherboard: MSI MEG Z790 GODLIKE 
• CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240-ARGB
• Power Supply: ENERMAX REVOLUTION D.F. X 1050W

Cyberpunk 2077

• With the Cyberpunk 2077 on the 4K high preset and RT set to Ultra, the RTX 4070 Ti Super beat the RTX 3080 Ti by 13%, averaging 62 FPS as opposed to the opponent card’s average of 54 FPS. 
• The RTX 4070 Ti Super’s 1% lows were approximately 52 FPS, whereas the RTX 3080 Ti’s minimum framerates were approximately 39 FPS. This is a 28% disparity in performance between the two cards.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla 

• With DLSS quality in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the RTX 4070 Ti Super averaged 94 FPS, showing a 19.8% higher framerate than the RTX 3080 Ti, which achieved 77 FPS.
• In our tests, the RTX 4070 Ti Super achieved 1% lows of up to 71 FPS, whereas the RTX 3080 Ti exhibited somewhat more stuttering, with 1% lows of approximately 64 FPS.

Watch Dogs Legion 

• In Watch Dogs Legion, The RTX 4070 Ti Super outperformed the RTX 3080 Ti by 30.9%, achieving an amazing framerate of 97 FPS, whereas the 3080 Ti scored 71 FPS throughout the game.
• During the game’s 1% lows, The RTX 4070 Ti Super decreased to 81 FPS in certain sequences, whereas the RTX 3080 Ti maintained a framerate closer to 62 FPS. This was the difference of 26%.

Red Dead Redemption 2      

• In Red Dead Redemption 2 The RTX 4070 Ti Super surpassed the RTX 3080 Ti’s 81 FPS by a significant 15.9% with an amazing average framerate of 95 FPS when Ultra settings were applied.
• The RTX 4070 Ti Super climbed down to 76 FPS in certain moments, while the RTX 3080 Ti maintained an average framerate of 64 FPS. The 1% lows in this game were with the difference of 17%.

 Doom Eternal 

• The game Doom Eternal performed remarkably well on both cards, showing a 2.5% difference. The benchmark framerate for the RTX 3080 Ti was 197 FPS, but the RTX 4070 Ti Super outperformed it with an average of 202 FPS.
• The RTX 3080 Ti and the more recent RTX 4070 Ti Super had 1% lows of approximately 149 and 168 FPS, respectively, and differed by 12%.

  Horizon Zero Dawn 

• When we tested Horizon Zero Dawn on both cards, the RTX 4070 Ti Super was ahead with a difference of 21%. RTX 4070 Ti Super maintained 114 FPS, compared to the RTX 3080 Ti which managed approximately 92 FPS.
• This game’s 1% low of the RTX 4070 Ti Super decreased to 54 FPS, while the RTX 3080 Ti only dropped to about 83 FPS.

A Plague Tale Requiem 

• A Plague Tale Requiem did well, with a 15% differential on both cards. With an average of 54 FPS, the RTX 4070 Ti Super outperformed the RTX 3080 Ti, which scored 63 FPS.
• The RTX 3080 Ti and the more recent RTX 4070 Ti Super had minimum frame rates of around 45 and 51 FPS, respectively, for the 1% lows. This difference was 12.5%.

Overall Gaming Performance

While the RTX 3080 Ti also did well, averaging 89 FPS, the RTX 4070 Ti Super outperformed it with a 14.5% higher average framerate. This makes the 4070 Ti Super an excellent option for 4K gaming. With an average of 9% higher, the RTX 4070 Ti Super showed more fluid gameplay at 1% lows, decreasing stuttering.

Thermal Efficiency

In our testing, the average temperature difference between RTX 4070 Ti Super & RTX 3080 Ti was about 8.9% demonstrating no weakness in its thermal management either. The thermal performance of your GPU may vary greatly from what we’re seeing here due to a variety of factors.

Price And Value

There is a significant pricing differential at launch. Fortunately, the cost of the RTX 3080 Ti has decreased dramatically over time. Regretfully, the price difference with the RTX 4070 Ti Super remains at 21%. The RTX 3080 Ti failed to live up to its cost on the benchmark.

What We Recommend

RTX 4070 Ti Super: The RTX 4070 Ti Super is advised if you want a budget GPU with the latest DLSS technology, smoother gameplay, and sufficient cooling. It has performed very well in 4k gaming and is superior in every way.

RTX 3080 Ti: On the other hand, the RTX 3080 Ti is more easily accessible and has a marginal advantage in certain games regarding keeping a steady 1% low frame rate. Its outdated architecture, steeper price points, and increased power usage compromise long-term appeal.

When it comes to performance, the RTX 4070 Ti Super has outperformed the RTX 3080 Ti. Furthermore, even with its outstanding benchmarks, it remains less expensive than the RTX 3080 Ti. So I recommend going for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super.
