Redfall Has Almost Been Completely Abandoned By Steam Players

Under 50 Peak Concurrent Players in 24 Hours!

Redfall was a highly anticipated Xbox first-party title due to the history of Arkane Studios and the promise of an exciting vampire-slaying adventure. However, it had a disastrous launch and earned the title of the lowest-rated Arkane Studios game.

It was also negatively reviewed by users on Steam, joining the 15 worst-reviewed games on the platform. Several months after the poor launch, Redfall appears to have been completely abandoned on Steam.

Why it matters: Redfall was expected to end the long drought of first-party Xbox games, leading a lineup of incredibly ambitious games. This led to a lot of expectations from Arkane Studios.

At the time of writing, 11 Steam users are playing the game, and the peak concurrent player count in the past 24 hours has stayed below 50.

Prior to the game’s release, Arkane Studios had a reputation for iconic releases like Dishonored and Prey. However, Redfall marked a stark transition, failing to deliver on any of the studio’s strengths from previous titles.

Still, Microsoft and Arkane Austin promised post-launch support for the game. This included the highly-awaited 60FPS update, but the game has not received any significant changes since its launch.

Recently, a group of fans took to Reddit, expressing frustration over the silence from Arkane Austin. As such, the game appears to be losing the few players who were hopeful about future updates improving Redfall.

According to a report, Microsoft had already predicted that Redfall would turn out to be a disaster.

Another leaker claimed that Arkane Austin was never too confident in the game, and many developers at the studio hoped Microsoft would step in and completely cancel the project.

All of this led to a great disappointment and the worst release from the studio to date. With less than 50 players active on Steam, it is only a matter of time before Redfall is completely abandoned.

Nonetheless, Arkane Austin is already preparing for the future.

Fans of the studio’s work will be glad to know that job listings have hinted Arkane Austin plans to focus on a single-player RPG experience for the new game, utilizing its strengths and prior experience with the genre for a potential redemption in the industry.
