PlayStation Might Be Going The Capcom Route With Remakes!

Story Highlight
  • A recent rumor hinted at a new Infamous project from PlayStation.
  • An update on the rumor suggests the gaming giant is working on remakes of the first two games.
  • This would mark the second major series remake for a beloved PlayStation IP following the God of War trilogy.

Recent reliable rumors revealed that PlayStation was working on something Infamous-related behind the scenes. An update on the situation has now arrived, and it’s one that fans will likely find quite encouraging.

It is said that PlayStation’s mystery Infamous project involves remakes based on the series.

Why it matters: This could be the beginning of a wider focus on remakes from PlayStation since the gaming giant has already announced God of War trilogy remakes

VGC journalist Jordan Middler reiterated the Infamous rumors from yesterday when speaking to Greg Miller during the latest Kinda Funny Gamescast episode.

He noted that the rumor came from a fairly reliable source, but was not corroborated by a second source for further clarity. Anyhow, Jordan Middler states that it was implied that PlayStation was working on remaking both the first two Infamous titles.

He also went on to say that there’s no telling when the project will be announced.

When I was told about it, I fully assumed the person was referring to a remake of Infamous 1 and 2. That wasn’t told to me directly, but that was very much implied.

Infamous Second Son Might Not Get The Remake Treatment

It’s still worth taking this rumor with a slight grain of salt, but the journalist’s sources usually have a solid track record.

If PlayStation is indeed remaking the first two games in the Infamous series, this means that other franchises, such as Resistance, Killzone, and more, could be due for similar treatment in the future.

In doing so, PlayStation could attempt to mimic Capcom’s success with remakes, but on a much broader scale due to the numerous IPs that PlayStation can leverage in terms of remakes for modern platforms.

What do you think about PlayStation possibly remaking the first two Infamous games? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.
