PlayStation Reportedly Working on New Infamous Game

PlayStation Finally Doing Something With Its Classic IPs!

Story Highlight
  • A reliable journalist suggests PlayStation is working on something Infamous-related.
  • The project is said to be in the works without Sucker Punch Productions’ involvement.
  • This likely means that the team is working on a remaster or remake of one of the existing Infamous titles.

PlayStation’s first-party studio, Sucker Punch Productions, has had its hands full with Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei over the last few years, leaving little room to show any love to IPs like Infamous.

Despite the team’s persisting reverence for Infamous to this day, the studio has yet to do much with the game. However, PlayStation may have taken matters into its own hands if recent reports regarding Infamous are to be believed.

Why it matters: Infamous is among the many PS3 games that have yet to receive current-gen ports, remasters, or sequels despite plenty of demand from the fans.

Popular VGC journalist Jordan Middler recently discussed the state of PlayStation’s studios, including Sucker Punch Productions.

The journalist expects the studio to eventually release another “Ghost of title” as a follow-up to Ghost of Yotei, but he also addressed the demand for Infamous despite the series’ dormant status following the launch of Infamous Second Son.

According to Jordan Middler, something related to Infamous is currently in the works at PlayStation. He also notes that Sucker Punch Productions may not be directly involved with the project.

I’m under the impression that there is an Infamous thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute.

This likely means that PlayStation is working on a remaster or remake of the series.

Because the gaming giant has also confirmed remakes of the God of War Greek saga, this could be a sign of PlayStation opening up to re-releasing more classic games from the past. As such, Infamous would be the perfect IP for remakes and remasters.

Of course, PlayStation could still be working on a brand new title for the series. Whatever the case may be, fans will likely be glad to know that the series is not being ignored like it was for the last decade or so.
