Marvel’s Spider-Man Reportedly Generated $3.8B In Revenue

Story Highlight
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) is reported to have made nearly $4 billion in its first year.
  • This figure seems like a typo, as it is just not possible for the title to have made this much amount with only shipping the base game.
  • However, if we consider the merchandising and console bundles then it might have been possible.

Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) instantly become popular thanks to Insomniac’s beautiful craftsmanship. The game sold over 33 million copies, which is pretty insane but isn’t that surprising if you consider its fandom thanks to comics, TV shows, and movies.

The game has arguably done wonders for Insomniac, and a new report reveals that it has made $3.8 Billion in revenue.

Why it matters: Marvel’s Spider-Man had a budget of $90 million, so its making nearly $4 billion in revenue is straight-up absurd.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2018 Revenue
The Report Suggests Insomniac’s Debut Spider-Man Title Was A Standout Success

This report comes directly from Kevin Kimbal who drove market leadership at Sony along with mentoring a large team. He also led the marketing for the Spider-Man game released in 2018.

I led the marketing efforts for Marvel’s Spider-Man, achieving a 971% sales surge in its first year, selling over 20M units globally and generating $3.8B in revenue.

-Kevin Kimbal

Someone who led its marketing rights mentions the game generating nearly $4 billion in revenue. However, the math here doesn’t add up. At that time, the game only sold 20 million copies, so there is no way that would account for $3.8 billion.

As of the latest update, it has sold over 33 million copies, and even now, it seems impossible for the title to make such an amount in revenue. This is without considering how many times the game would have gone on sale.

This could be a typo, but this figure could make sense if we also account for the console bundles and merchandising. Without that, it just doesn’t make sense, or it could be of the whole franchise as it has sold over 50 million copies altogether.

However, 50 million copies, even counting, without discount, would also not be enough, so the console bundles and merchandising have to be part of the revenue. That is the only way for it to make sense if we don’t consider it a typo.

Nonetheless, Insomniac has seen great success in the Spider-Man games. The recent title has also been praised highly and is heading to PC next year in January

What do you think of Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) making nearly $4 billion in revenue? Do you think it is even possible? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or join the official Tech4Gamers forums to discuss it further.

Rockstar Games Dev Admits To Laughing At GTA 6 Trailer Fan Theories

Story Highlight
  • A Rockstar Games dev has admitted to laughing at the ridiculous GTA 6 fan theories from time to time.
  • The dev also notes that fans should not expect anyone from the dev team to leak any tidbits from GTA 6.
  • Many GTA fans often make weird GTA 6 theories out of desperation or to create a buzz in the community.

Rockstar Games certainly has nurtured one of the most vigorous gaming communities over the decades, with millions of players still enjoying GTA 5 Online and the studio’s other popular franchises. However, all these past hits have made players develop almost unrealistic expectations for GTA 6

One of the studio’s Project Coordinators, Ash, now claims these GTA 6 fan theories can be so bizarre that she also laughs at them. Fans have tried to come up with wild hypotheses in the past—like predicting when the next trailer will drop based on moon phases in GTA 5.

Why it matters: A Rockstar Games dev admitting to laughing at GTA 6 fan theories suggests that even the studio team often finds these outlandish claims as funny as we do.

A project coordinator at Rockstar Games also finds the outlandish GTA 6 online fan theories to be funny.
A Rockstar Games dev also laughs at the outlandish GTA 6 fan theories.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate her two years of working with Rockstar Games, Ash clarified that she also enjoys indulging herself in the GTA 6 fan theories that people often spread online. Based on what little footage we saw in the first GTA 6 trailer, users whipped up some pretty out-there ideas regarding Jason and Lucia online.

On the flip side, some have even argued that there are three protagonists based on the number of birds seen in a teaser art. Other users think Rockstar has already made the second trailer but has not released it yet, as if they are waiting to celebrate the studio’s anniversary with it.

Ash also explained that fans should not expect the GTA 6 team to leak anything since it would not benefit devs who have put their heart into developing the anticipated title.

All in all, GTA 6 fans have grown increasingly desperate ever since the last trailer dropped.

Do you think the next GTA 6 trailer will drop before 2025 begins, or will we all have to wait another few months? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.

CDPR Considering PC-Only Release For The Witcher 4 To Avoid Cyberpunk 2077 Disaster

Story Highlight
  • CDPR has had discussions about skipping consoles in favor of the PC platform.
  • The studio still expects a console release for The Witcher 4, but a simultaneous launch across all platforms may be skipped for future titles.
  • As per the studio, this RPG will have a very short period between its marketing and release.

Following Cyberpunk 2077’s unprecedented comeback, CDPR has become a more confident entity. The studio has also begun production on The Witcher 4, outlining ambitions to reshape the RPG genre as we know it.

However, the team is still aware of its big missteps from 2020. As per CDPR, the mistakes made during Cyberpunk 2077’s development will not be repeated, and for this reason, the team has even considered a PC-only release for The Witcher 4.

Why it matters: CDPR’s biggest platform is PC, and its games are also best played on modern PC hardware.

The Witcher 4
The Witcher 4 Is Currently CDPR’s Biggest Priority

Speaking to Eurogamer, the studio’s vice president of technology discussed the importance of optimizing for consoles. The studio hopes to do The Witcher 4 justice on consoles as opposed to starting work on the platform much later in development.

According to Charles Tremblay, CDPR has even considered a PC-only launch to give console optimization as much time as possible. This was said in reference to Larian’s approach of launching Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X after the PC version.

It’s something we discussed, but we’re not 100 percent sure.

-Charles Tremblay

He went on to say that something like this seems unlikely for The Witcher 4, but as more and more platforms begin to show up in the industry, CDPR might not support everything from the get-go in the coming years.

Elsewhere, the team addressed how it plans to handle marketing for its next AAA release. As per joint CEO Michal Nowakowski, CDPR will focus on a campaign that lasts around a year to two. Therefore, fans should see the gaming arriving within two years of its full reveal.

The Witcher 3
Geralt May Return For The Next Entry In Some Capacity

CDPR’s comments on the platform are interesting since this approach is not rare in the industry. A major team like Rockstar is perhaps the biggest example of a studio relying on a set number of platforms at release, with GTA 6 confirmed to be skipping PC in 2025. The game could take as many as two years to ship on PC.

What are your thoughts on CDPR considering a similar approach? Do you think this is something that could be implemented for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel? Let’s discuss this in the comments below.

Batman Arkham City Is The Best Video Game Sequel There Could Be

Story Highlight
  • Batman Arkham City cements itself as the best video game sequel, perfectly capitalizing off Arkham Asylum, an already flawless game.
  • The sequel expanded to a semi-open world, improving traversal, gadgets, and combat mechanics.
  • To date, the game features the best villains from the Dark Knight’s rogue gallery, with appearances from Joker, Hugo Strange, and Mr. Freeze and side missions featuring Zsasz and Riddler.

Having watched Max’s Penguin series recently, I had the sudden urge to replay the Arkham games, which was also necessary, coming from the fatigue I had from recent Rocksteady news.

I had to remind myself what made the Arkham games so special in the first place. I had played Arkham Asylum just a year ago, and it would only make sense to play Batman Arkham City again, the best-regarded game in the franchise.

Having finished the game god knows how many times, I realized that not many developers succeed in capitalizing on the success of their original releases. The good old Rocksteady surpassed the expectations of their first release and nailed the sequel aspect, something that no other developer could, in my opinion.

Why It Matters: Usually, when a game sets the bar high for developers, the following title often fails to capture the same essence as the original one. It’s rare to see a sequel that is better than the original game, but Batman Arkham City is an exception to this case.

How Batman Arkham City Expands From Arkham Asylum

Batman Arkham Asylum
Batman Arkham Asylum Changed Superhero Video Games Forever

Jumping straight from Batman Arkham Asylum to Arkham City, I first noticed how the scale has expanded from the prequel. I consider Batman Arkham City to lean more toward comic accuracy, which it perfectly nails.

Arkham Asylum was more of a linear game, with little exploration, and Batman was confined within the Arkham Asylum throughout the game. However, that perfectly reflects the Dark Knight’s detective side.

The first game was just a taste of what was coming next, and Arkham City was a treat for comic book fans. Mind you; this was released at a time when no comic book video game was ever this good and made you perfectly experience through that character’s shoes.

Arkham City went open-world but was still somewhat linear approach. It expanded traversal mechanics through grappling, and this time around, it had a more refined combat system with newer gadgets and tons of new side activities and missions, but more on that later.

Faster grappling, bomb diving, grapnel boost, wall run, and an improved bat claw made traveling around Arkham City really fun. Moreover, tons of new combat opportunities opened with the new electricity gun, freeze grenade, line launcher, and more Batarang features.

Whether you wanted to go stealthy or guns out, combat was also always fun and challenging. I never truly got bored because there was always enough variety in the combat that got better with time as I got ahold of it.

I think the game’s art style and graphics are still up to date, and if you’re on the PC platform, there is an unofficial remaster of the game. Using AI to update textures and 6 years of hard work, Arkham City has never looked better.

Perfect Utilization Of Bats’ Rogue Gallery

Batman Arkham City
Batman Arkham City Had The Best Villain Catalog

There isn’t just one standout thing that makes the Arkham games so special. Although, if I still had to choose amongst them, I’d choose the storylines of these games. As a diehard Dark Knight fan, I highly appreciate Rocksteady for giving us the best Batman adaptation outside of the comics.

Rather than focusing on one major villain, Arkham City gives a bit of light to almost everyone from Batman’s Rogue Gallery. Other than the Joker, the major villain of this game is Hugo Strange, who oversees the whole open-air prison.

That said, other Batman villains, such as The Penguin, Ra’s Al Ghul, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze, and Two-Face, all get their respective storylines without being outshone by each other. The perfectly carved story also shows how Batman, despite being a human in a cape, manages to beat all of these major criminals.

Other villains also make their respective appearances during the game’s side missions. Victor Zsasz, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Riddler, and others appear in the game’s side stories, chasing their own twisted goals.

Beyond that, the game contains several Easter eggs referring to Calendar Man, Scarecrow, and Azrael.

Xbox Handheld Will Also Run PlayStation Games

Story Highlight
  • An accredited insider claims that the Xbox handheld will also run PlayStation games, just like Sony would run Xbox titles.
  • The Windows-based Xbox portable will run PlayStation titles because Sony already brings them to PC.
  • Many details regarding both the rumored handhelds by Sony and Xbox are unclear. So, do take them with a grain of salt.

Both Microsoft and Sony are apparently looking to compete in the handheld market after the dominance of Nintendo—and Steam Deck’s recent success. Phil Spencer has already somewhat officially confirmed the Xbox handheld rumors, but PlayStation has been entirely quiet on the matter.

Sony’s handheld is expected to run Xbox titles since Microsoft brings its first-party titles to the PlayStation Space, but recent rumors now suggest that PlayStation games will also run on the Xbox portable.

Why it matters: The Xbox handheld running PlayStation games would make sense, given the company’s multiplatform initiatives. However, the specifics of how it would be achieved remain unclear.

Tom Warren claims that PlayStation games will run on the Xbox portable because Sony also releases games on PC.
PlayStation titles will allegedly run on the Xbox Portable because Sony also releases games on PC.

The notable industry insider, Tom Warren, addressed the popular speculations on Twitter while replying to a user, claiming that Microsoft’s handheld will support PlayStation titles since Sony also releases its games on PC.

It makes sense, considering that the Xbox portable might be a Windows-based device, supporting titles that already work on PCs using Steam or other software.

On the flip side, a more absurd possibility suggests that Sony might have to release titles specially for the Xbox handheld for compatibility.

Earlier this year, Xbox sent out a survey related to handhelds to confirm the validity of rampant rumors.
Earlier this year, Xbox sent out a survey related to handhelds to confirm the validity of rampant rumors.

All in all, it is best to take the rumors with a grain of salt since the details regarding how the Xbox handheld would function are still unclear.

Do you think that the upcoming Xbox handheld can run PlayStation games natively, or will Microsoft miss out on this multiplatform opportunity? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Looks Worse On PS5 Pro With PSSR Than Base Console

Story Highlight
  • PSSR was previously reported to be causing visual glitches in many games.
  • Now, Digital Foundry has revealed that technology, while looking promising,g isn’t perfect as it makes Black Ops 6 look worse on the pro console than the base one.
  • This might cause some concerns among the fans, but PSSR is Sony’s first-ever AI-driven upscaling technology for a console.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was recently enhanced for the PS5 Pro, so fans were wondering how much of an upgrade the game will get due to the new technology PSSR.

However, as per the analysis of experts, the title looks better on the previous version than it does on PS5 Pro with PSSR, even though there is a huge difference in hardware.

Why it matters: PSSR has proven to be quite troublesome in many games as it was causing visual glitches. This means that the technology is still not completely ready, even with the pro console out already for a while.

A recent video from Digital Foundry discussing PSSR problems revealed how it can make certain games look worse than they do on the base console. Black Ops 6 is the latest example of how technology is negatively affecting a game.

Alexander Battaglia, a PC specialist at Digital Foundry, revealed during the video that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 previous version looks better than on PS5 Pro with PSSR, which shows the AI-driven upscaler is still in beta.

In a case like that, it is a little odd to see the old version looking better in aspects even though, once again, the hardware is way better on PS5 Pro on the GPU side of things, which matters the most.

-Alexander Battaglia

PSSR Needs A Lot of Improvements

So, the PSSR, while being better than FSR in some aspects, seems to be causing trouble in many games. Given how the technology is still new, as is the first time Sony has ever released it for its console, such problems aren’t that surprising.

However, these problems are likely to cause controversy due to the massive price tag of the PS5 Pro.

What do you think about the PSSR causing visual glitches in many games? Do you think the PS5 Pro is a worthy upgrade over the base console? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or join the discussion at the Tech4Gamers official forums

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Director ‘Is An Xbox Fan’; Says ‘It’s A Great Hardware Platform’

Story Highlight
  • The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director has praised Xbox’s current generation hardware
  • He also owns an Xbox console himself.
  • The director hopes to see his game on the platform eventually.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been one of the biggest games of 2024. Following incredible critical reception, the game finished the first half of 2024 as Metacritic’s best-rated title. It was also nominated for Game of the Year, alongside titles like Black Myth: Wukong and Shadow of the Erdtree.

The JRPG is currently exclusive to the PS5 but should make its way to PC next year. An Xbox release is not off the cards either, with Square Enix shifting to a third-party approach. On the subject of Xbox, the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director has also praised the platform recently.

Why it matters: Xbox, more often than not, gets overshadowed by PlayStation. As such, it is interesting to see such a major developer praising the platform.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Continues The Journey of Cloud Strife

Speaking on Square Enix’s recent decision to pursue multiplatform releases, director Naoki Hamaguchi commented that this is a natural shift because of the industry’s current focus.

He remarked that nothing is set in stone for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth yet, but the team hopes to see it on Xbox eventually. Naoki Hamaguchi also confirmed that he owns an Xbox himself after claiming to be a fan of the platform.

I’ve got an Xbox myself. I think it’s a great hardware platform.

-Naoki Hamaguchi

What makes this statement all the more impressive is the fact that Xbox does not have as major a presence in Japan. Compared to the US, Xbox sales in Japan are much lower, even though Microsoft has made strides to improve its standing in the region this generation.

Xbox Series X
The Xbox Series X Is An Excellent Console For $500

Anyhow, this statement underscores Xbox’s current position in the industry. For all their flaws, the Xbox Series S|X consoles are great pieces of hardware for those simply looking to enjoy great games from the modern era.

Perhaps Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will also be one of those games someday. What are your thoughts on Naoki Hamaguchi’s statement? Let us know in the comments, and join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

The Last of Us Series Is Most Awarded Video Game Franchise of All-Time

Story Highlight
  • The Last of Us Part 1 & 2 both won the Game of the Year award the year they were released.
  • Due to that, The Last of Us series is the most awarded video game franchise of all time.
  • Other notable video game franchises are Resident Evil, Legend of Zelda, and Grand Theft Auto.

The Last of Us series has grown significantly since the second game’s release, and it is now known worldwide. It is also the only franchise where all releases have won the Game of the Year Award.

The Last of Us Part 1 won the most prestigious award in 2013, while Part 2 won in 2020. This is arguably a great feat, and due to that, it is hailed as the most-awarded video game franchise of all time

Why it matters: A franchise consisting of two games, both of which are critically acclaimed to this level, is a praiseworthy moment.

The Last of Us Part 2 Was The Most Awarded Video Game of All Time Before Elden Ring

The Last of Us Part 2 was once the most-awarded video game of all time. However, this was changed after the 2022 The Game Awards, which was completely dominated by none other than the famous RPG Elden Ring.

While Elden Ring holds the crown for having the most awards, The Last of Us series remains the most-awarded franchise ever. The first part is still considered a gem, and it was completely remastered in late 2022.

There was a huge fandom demand for the remaster, and while there were many performance issues, fans were at least happy. Part 2 is where the fandom is a little split, as some found it as good as the first game, but others were hugely disappointed by how the events unfolded.

While the criticism is valid, Naughty Dog nailed the story progression, character development, and plot twists. The developer is worthy of all the praise it gets. Due to the developer’s past work, fans are also demanding a third entry, which is already being considered

Still, it is pretty surprising for a franchise to hold first place with just two games. Other notable most-awarded franchises are Resident EvilGrand Theft Auto, The Legend of Zelda, and Final Fantasy

What do you think of The Last of Us series being the most awarded franchise of all time? Do you think both of the games deserve to be called Game of the Year? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums

PS4 Image Enhancement Is Another Half-Baked Feature To Sell PS5 Pro

Story Highlight
  • The PS5 Pro comes with PS4 Image Enhancement, a feature that enhances last-gen games for better, clearer results.
  • It distorts image quality, interferes with post-processing effects, and emphasizes issues like TAA.
  • While the feature works for older games, it doesn’t justify the PS5 Pro’s $700 price tag, leaving its appeal questionable.

Sony hasn’t seemed to catch a break with the PS5 Pro since it was revealed. Now, with the console finally available to consumers, it’s worse than we ever expected, not just in terms of its power but also in terms of its half-baked ‘exclusive features’ that are excuses to sell the consoles.

Aside from the PSSR, one of the worst image upscaling options, the PS5 Pro has another major feature intended only for last-gen games. Sony’s new Image Enhancement feature is somewhat complicated, as are my feelings towards it.

Why It Matters: Sony didn’t reveal much about the PS4 Image Enhancement feature before we got our hands on the console. Consumers need to realize the downsides and upsides of PS4 Image Enhancement before they buy PS5 Pro.

What Does The PS4 Image Enhancement Do?

ps4 image enhancement
PS5 Pro Has A Feature To Make PS4 Games Look Better

Judging by the looks and the way that PS4 Image Enhancement works, we can conclude that the feature is somewhat of a post-processing filter. The PS4 Image Enhancement is a smart upscale that refines jagged edges and makes the final image more crisp, resulting in better quality.

With the PS4 Image Enhancement, everything from the rendered footage, cutscenes, and even the UI is being upscaled to higher resolutions. Older PS4 games running on 1080p seem to benefit quite largely from this feature.

Games like Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Order 1886, and Nier Replicant look phenomenal with the image upscaled, and I don’t see much noticeable graphical downgrade after playing current-gen games as opposed to before this feature was enabled.

Here’s Where It Falls Short

ps4 image enhanced comparison
PS4 Image Enhancement Emphasizes Aliasing – Image Credits: Digital Foundry On YouTube

All said, though, the PS4 Image Enhancement does fall short on quite a few aspects. First and foremost, the feature works only well for games rendered at a 1080p resolution; anything higher than that, and you won’t see a difference.

With the mode turned on, some games seem to be affected in the performance department, with FPS starting to drop. This isn’t surprising to me, considering the PS5 Pro’s hardware.

Secondly, since this is a post-processing effect, we can conclude that it has its own issues or enhances other issues as well. I’ve already talked in detailed about how TAA really messes up video games nowadays.

The PS4 Image Enhancement has the same problem, but this time around, it emphasizes it much more. Aliased games with crisper image quality look worse than the original, in my opinion.

Other than that, the PS4 Image Enhancement also interferes with other post-processing effects, such as film grain, lighting, and others. This feature will result in a distorted image quality.

Here’s Why I Think This Mode Is A Scam

PS5 Pro Featured
Scalpers Are Already Selling PS5 Pro Below MSRP

Don’t get me wrong here. The slightly upscaled and better image quality doesn’t hurt despite the drawbacks. The lack of aliasing brings out the jagged edges and makes them more prominent, for my liking. Not to mention that it can also ruin some 2D art styles.

In my opinion, this feature should already be standard with the PS5’s base model. This is surprising considering that the Xbox Series X already has a similar feature where it natively upscales games from past generations with improved textures and FPS.

To summarize, the PS4 Image Enhancement is an okayish feature, but it is not something that I’ll happily spend $700 on. It works well on older PS4 games, but don’t expect a major result in the games released during the second half of the PS4 run.

That said, if you plan to play those games again, they’ll most likely be remastered soon, following the same pattern as other Sony first-party games.

Insomniac Is In A Tight Space With Marvel’s Wolverine

Story Highlight
  • Insomniac’s reputation suffered after a cyberattack leaked data on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine.
  • DLCs for Spider-Man 2 and a potential Venom game were canceled, disappointing fans.
  • Leaked Wolverine gameplay received mixed feedback, raising concerns about delays and future projects.
  • Marvel’s Wolverine could potentially change the trajectory for future Insomniac games and the developer itself.

A developer once hailed one of the best after developing Marvel’s Spider-Man, which is one of my favorite superhero video games of all time, Insomniac’s reputation has spiraled down significantly in the past few months.

Why is that so? Well, it starts with the huge cyberattack that was launched against the developer. The attack leaked over a terabyte of data, including future plans, source code for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Wolverine, which has yet to come out.

This cyberattack caused the developer a lot of harm and might as well have been attributed to the lack of post-launch content for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a game that has aged poorly, in my opinion. With the somewhat mixed feedback for Marvel’s Wolverine, it’s pretty hard for the developer to bounce back from this major setback.

Why It Matters:  Insomniac’s downfall wasn’t even their own fault, and the negative feedback for Wolverine’s leaked gameplay has caused a 360 for the developer, making it harder for them to succeed with their next title.

Insomniac’s Leaked Caused A Major Shakeup And Cancelled Plans

Venom
Venom’s Standalone Game Potentially Cancelled

Let’s just say Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 wasn’t what I hoped from the game since it was first revealed in 2021. The game apparently had a lot of cut content, which was probably being saved for the post-game content that people had been waiting for ages.

However, when the roadmap for the game was leaked after the Insomniac leak, we didn’t hear much about it until a month ago when it was announced for PC, less than a year from its PS5 release.

Insomniac has given up on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLCs following the leak. It’s a shame because I never seemed to have enough of the game. From what we had in the first game, many people are disappointed, but it isn’t Insomniac’s fault.

Moreover, the death of Tony Todd, the voice actor behind Venom, has also caused concerns about the leaked Venom standalone project, which has probably also been cancelled.

Leaked Gameplay Marvel’s Wolverine Didn’t Have Quite A Good Reaction

Marvel’s Wolverine Leaks Weren’t Too Forgiving On Insomniac – Image Credit (Tech4Gamers)

Leaked gameplay for any title isn’t good, whether it be GTA 6 or Marvel’s Wolverine, since the footage is under development and subject to a ton of changes. However, many people don’t understand that; the same thing happened with Marvel’s Wolverine.

For Wolverine, it wasn’t only the gameplay that got leaked, but instead major portions of the game, which many people even downloaded illegally. Spoiler alert: they weren’t happy with an unreleased half-baked title.

The game was scheduled for a 2025 release, which meant a lot of changes both graphically and gameplay-wise. Well, it certainly wasn’t what I expected in terms of game style, but I’m certainly all for it and await until they officially reveal some proper footage

Is Insomniac In Trouble?

Insomniac Games Marvel's X-Men
Insomniac Games’ Leaked Marvel’s X-Men Title

With the canceled content for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and the upcoming release of Marvel’s Wolverine, a title many aren’t looking forward to, Insomniac is seemingly in a troubled place.

This situation worsened when the game’s directorBrian Horton, left due to creative differences. Whether it was due to pre-leak development issues or the interference in the game’s direction following the reception from the leaks is unknown.

From what I can speculate, Marvel’s Wolverine will probably be delayed even further from its initial 2026 release, as suggested by the leaks. This will also disturb future Insomniac titles such as the X-Men Project and other Spider-Man titles.

Everything now rides on Marvel’s Wolverine to get the developer back on track before their future trajectory changes after PlayStation interferes because one thing is apparent the gaming giant doesn’t take mistakes kindly.

Kratos Actor Teases God of War Announcement Amid Trilogy Remaster Rumors

Story Highlight
  • God of War Greed Saga remaster is rumored to be in development.
  • Amid those rumors, the voice actor of Kratos revealed during his livestream that there would be some new announcements during the next two weeks.
  • The announcements could relate to the rumored Trilogy remaster, the new God of War game, and the secret level show.

It has been over 2 years since the last God of War was released, so fans have longed to hear more about a sequel. While it might still be too early to reveal some details regarding the next God of War sequel, we are definitely getting some announcements from Santa Monica

Christopher Judge, the legendary voice actor behind Kratos, has teased that new God of War announcements will be made during the next two weeks. Rumors have been swirling around the Trilogy remasters, so the studio might officially announce them.

Why it matters: While fans are hyped for the next GoW game, they seem more hyped about the Trilogy as it shows the real nature of Kratos.

Christopher Judge Teased God of War Announcements In The Next Two Weeks

During a live stream on Instagram, Christopher Judge, the voice behind Kratos, revealed that some new project announcements will be made during the next two weeks. However, the Game Awards will be held on 12 December, so it is unlikely that the announcements will be made during the show.

It is worth noting that the State of Play was also rumored, so Sony might hold its own show before one of the biggest events of 2024 takes place. The rumored Greek Saga remastered, as per the leaker, is also targeting a 2025 release window, so it would make sense to announce it before the year ends.

Fans think the announcement could be related to the Secret Level show with Kratos, as it will stream on 10 December. While it is a solid guess, Judge said there would be ‘announcements,’ so even if one is related to the Secret Level show, there are going to be more about other projects.

Those projects could be related to the new God of War game and the rumored Greek Saga remaster. All in all, fans are pretty hyped about the upcoming announcements, hopefully during a State of Play.

What do you think about Christopher Judge’s statement during his live video? Do you think the announcements will be related to the new GOW or the rumored Trilogy remaster? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers forums

Half-Life 3 Announcement Expected Soon, Hints New Report

Story Highlight
  • PSSR was previously reported to be causing visual glitches in many games.

  • This might cause some concerns among the fans, but PSSR is Sony’s first-ever AI-driven upscaling technology for a console.

Recently, Valve released a massive update for Half-Life 2 that attracted thousands of new players. Many of those who had already played the game were also forced to play it once more, and a new all-time peak was born.

This has only increased the fandom’s demand for a sequel to this two-decade-old video game. It seems like Valve is gearing up to announce Half-Life 3 soon enough, as a new report has revealed some interesting information.

Why it matters: Half-Life 2 is one of the most iconic games, and to this date, the fandom is demanding a sequel. While some reports have already confirmed the game’s existence, fans still want Valve to announce it officially.

Tyler McVikcer has revealed some new details about the next Half-Life project. He is known for some interesting scoops when it comes to anything related to Valve. The insider revealed that Valve is now conducting gunplay tests on a very low level, and a lot of features from its voxel-based destruction engine, Arty, will be in the title.

McVikcer further revealed that NPCs will have different reactions based on the NPCs available in the same area. Also, it seems like Valve is focusing heavily on innovation rather than improving graphics

Also, the game is reported to feature more immersive sim elements. These new scoops are pretty huge and give fans more hope for a sequel they have always been hoping for.
