Call of Duty’s upcoming installment, Modern Warfare 4, is set to launch in just two more months. Excitement for this year’s Call of Duty title isn’t the highest following Black Ops 7’s disappointing run last year, but Xbox seems to be doing something about this with the upcoming beta.
The gaming giant is officially bringing its most extensive beta ever with Modern Warfare 4.
Why it matters: This beta appears to be Call of Duty’s attempt at offering its biggest pre-launch taste of gameplay ever in an attempt to win back fans following a weaker-than-usual year.
Xbox has confirmed that the Modern Warfare 4 beta will include three different elements to it. The beta will offer a single-player campaign mission alongside multiplayer and Warzone content.
This is the first time this kind of campaign access has been included in a Call of Duty beta. Because of this, many fans are saying that Infinity Ward is offering a fully-fledged demo for the game as opposed to a standard beta.
The beta officially goes live on August 21 in early access, with the open beta period starting from August 28. This is also when the new Warzone Resurgence map will join the beta.

Because Modern Warfare 4 has recently drawn criticism for looking similar to its predecessors, Xbox’s decision to go ahead with a bigger beta may prove to be quite smart in the long run.
