Call of Duty is back in 2022 with the sequel to 2019’s critically acclaimed, Modern Warfare. After a mediocre showing with last year’s Call of Duty: Vanguard, the franchise has once again set its sights on becoming the best fps game on all platforms.

While the game is a few months out, fans might not have to wait too long to finally try the new title. Call of Duty games has traditionally had a beta test a few months before launch. Modern Warfare II is no different in this regard, and a beta for the game has already been confirmed.

However, it seems like the beta is coming a bit sooner than expected. An Amazon listing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has revealed that the early access period for the open beta begins on August 15, 2022.

Many had expected the beta to begin in September. Therefore, this has been a pleasant surprise for the fans. An August release for the beta would also give developers enough time to make changes based on the feedback, before the game comes out on October 28, 2022.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s beta began in late September. This gave the developers less than two months to implement feedback from the test. However, it seems like Infinity Ward is more eager to let the community try their game out. An early access period for Sony’s PlayStation consoles has also been confirmed for the beta.

Furthermore, an alpha test could also show up at an earlier date. While nothing has been confirmed, Call of Duty games has had alpha demos before the beta tests, for the last two years. Hence, an alpha would not be too out of the ordinary for the upcoming sequel.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is looking phenomenal so far. The game is aiming to go above and beyond to deliver a worthwhile experience to classic fans as well as newcomers. Moreover, a sequel to Call of Duty: Warzone has also been confirmed to be releasing soon after the new game. The title looks promising so far, but it remains to be seen if the end product will live up to the gaming industry’s expectations.
