A New Crimson Desert Map Expansion Could Be Coming Soon, New Findings Tease

A Practically Finished Playable Area Points To An Imminent DLC!

Story Highlight
  • Multiple findings suggest that Crimson Desert is set to receive a map expansion in a future DLC.
  • A nearly completed village was discovered in an out-of-bounds area far north of Pailune.
  • A question mark indicating a point of interest appeared for another user in the east of Varnia, hinting at a second location for a DLC.

Crimson Desert is one of those RPGs that gets more popular and expansive as time goes on. It has retained nearly 50% of its players since launch five to six weeks ago, as every update has either added new content or improved the player experience

However, Pearl Abyss could have massive plans for the game moving forward involving multiple DLCs and map expansions. A discovery in the community has unearthed a nearly finished snow-laden village lying just far north of Pailune

Why it matters: A nearly completed village could be a hint towards the studio’s first choice for a map expansion in a DLC. However, much of the map towards the far east of Varnia also seems ideal for a map expansion in the future.

Discovered by YouTuber Riskbreaker, the out-of-bounds area is extremely difficult to explore and is only accessible via a flying mount. The fully functional village is devoid of NPCs but contains all the props and objects you’d see in any other village.

The out-of-bounds timer makes it hard to stay for longer than a few seconds, requiring the use of photo mode to explore the surroundings. There are other points of interest on the way, including forts, camps, a shrine, and watchtowers, but the village stands out.

A nearly completed village existing in an out-of-bounds area suggests that Pearl Abyss plans to use the location in a map expansion.

Or it might have been left unfinished before development in the most boring scenario, which seems unlikely. The village might have been removed by now if that were the case.

Crimson Desert Bosses Nerfed
Crimson Desert has improved immensely since launch via several updates.

Another anomaly found by redditor u/BlibbityBlobbity420 shows a glitched question mark indicating a point of interest far out of bounds to the east of Varnia, in an area called the Sunbaked Peaks. Some argue this could be another location meant for a map expansion in the future.
