Microsoft Won’t Be On The E3 2023 Show Floor

Though Green Camp Will Be Co-Hosting Digital Showcase Presentation As Part of E3 2023

Microsoft will be hosting its own Games Showcase stream on June 11, and it won’t appear on the show floor at E3 this year. It was rumored that Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo will skip E3 2022.

Microsoft has officially confirmed it, as the company wants to host their own show. An Xbox spokesperson told IGN via The Verge that:

“We can’t wait to host our Xbox Games Showcase on June 11th and will share more details later.

We also look forward to co-streaming our event as part of E3 Digital and will not be on the E3 show floor.”

However, according to the statement issued on IGN, Microsoft will be co-streaming the presentation as a part of E3. So Microsoft can be considered a part of E3, but it won’t appear on the show floor.

This event is officially returning after 4 years due to the pandemic, but Microsoft didn’t attend the E3 events in 2019 and 2018. It also has been confirmed that Nintendo won’t be attending this year’s event, and so far, only Ubisoft, a major publisher, is attending the event.

Still, we could see some returns in this year’s E3 as last week it was revealed by the sow organizer ReedPop that AAA companies, in addition to indie darlings and tech and hardware firms, will make their return in the E3 2023, so hopefully this year E3 will be something to talk about.

However, Microsoft and Nintendo not attending the event could be a fatal blow to the Entertainment Software Association. Sony has yet to decide, but it most likely won’t appear, as the event’s reputation is not what it used to be. That is because around 2,000 journalists, analysts, and content producers had their contact information accidentally disclosed by ESA.

The PC Gaming Show, Future Games Show, Guerilla Collective, and Black Voices in Gaming are all included as part of E3 2023’s Digital Week, which begins on Sunday, June 11.

Aside from that, what do you think of Microsoft skipping this year’s E3? Do you think Sony will attend the event? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
