It has been a good year not only for Microsoft but for the Xbox fans as well. Microsoft took all the criticism positively and thoughtfully from the release of Xbox One and has been busy providing value to its users with the Xbox Series X|S.

The growth of Xbox in recent times has been boosted by various factors, whether improving their DRM Architecture or providing insane value with Xbox Game Pass. The Xbox Game Pass has evolved so much since its release in 2017 that Games worth $500 have been added to the Game Pass in September 2022 alone.

The decisions like not hiking the Xbox price in times when major competitors like Sony have hiked the price of PlayStation5 by 10% in non-Us regions. These factors have also led to the popularity of Xbox in PlayStation dominant regions like Japan. As a result, first-time Xbox owners account for half of the console sales in Asia.

Xbox Series X Series S Consoles Game Pass

The boost in sales is greatly influenced by the Japanese markets after the TGS 2022, Xbox sales were boosted in Japan in one week of the event, and Xbox Series S alone managed to sell over 13,000 units in Japan. Microsoft is already putting tough competition for PlayStation and is on an acquisition spree with its latest acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Last year Microsoft acquired Bethesda Game Studios, responsible for fan favorite franchises like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Doom, and made Starfield an Xbox and PC exclusive.

In recent, GiantBombCast it has been revealed that “Microsoft has talked with major Japanese publishers about acquisitions”, backing last year’s report by Bloomberg that “Several Japanese companies were approached by Microsoft for Acquisition“.

“He [Phill Spencer] also spoke about being in japan and having a lot of meetings to build new partnerships and to build on existing ones that’s been the long-term plan with what’s happening with Kojima” – Jeff

Due to the recent footprint by Microsoft in Japanese markets with Xbox Series X|S and their new approach to the gaming sector, this might happen soon. Microsoft has also added more Japanese-origin games to its platform and involved more local developers in their projects.

Microsoft proved itself to be a good competitor, and healthy competition always brings good to the consumers. Let us know your thoughts about Microsoft paving its way to becoming the biggest Gaming Company. Is it good or bad for gamers?
