Naughty Dog, San Diego Studio, and Others Are Adopting The Tech Too!

Story Highlight
  • PlayStation showed a heavy AI emphasis on its recent investor call meeting.
  • The company also used an AI animation tool to remaster Horizon Zero Dawn.
  • Other first-party studios are also using it, as the company goes all out on the tech.

PlayStation recently held its earnings call for this quarter, and AI was at the helm of it. The gaming giants showed intention towards going all out with AI, with all of its major first-party titles using the tech to enhance game development.

Now, it has been revealed that PlayStation used its new AI animation tool for its remasters, like Horizon Zero Dawn. The tool animates a 3D facial model based on the performance capture, expediting the whole process.

Why it matters: In these kinds of scenarios, using AI does sound like the right and a very efficient move. However, fans are worried that if they use the tech too deeply for game development, they’ll turn into slops.
