Does This Performance Boost Justify The PS5 Pro's Price Tag?

Story Highlight
  • On the base PS5, Lies of P runs at native 4K but at 30FPS
  • However, the game on PS5 Pro delivers native 4K resolution with a 30% performance boost in Quality Mode.
  • The PS5 Pro’s higher frame rate in Quality Mode helps to reduce frame pacing issues, especially during combat.

Lies of P, known for its challenging gameplay and brilliant environments, now showcases a decent performance boost on the PS5 Pro when running in Quality Mode, delivering native 4K resolution with a 30% performance boost.

Why it matters: PS5 Pro is marketed as 45% faster than the base model. The figures are almost accurate, at least in Lies of P, as it offers a 30% performance boost in quality mode.

On the PS5 Pro, the Quality Mode focuses on the best visuals, delivering native 4K resolution. Players can now enjoy sharp textures and detailed environments that bring the game’s Bloodborne-like world to life.

According to Eurogamer, While the base PS5 ran the game at a steady 30 FPS in Quality Mode, the PS5 Pro increases this to over 40 FPS, making gameplay feel a bit more responsive.

The developers have optimized Lies of P for Quality Mode, but Performance Mode also aims for 60 FPS at 1440p on regular PS5 consoles.

Moreover, Digital Foundry’s review noted that while Lies of P can have some frame pacing issues, these are much less common in Quality Mode on the PS5 Pro. The higher frame rate in this mode really helps during combat, where any drop in performance can be frustrating in the game’s challenging environment.
