- A modder has introduced Shadow of War’s Nemesis system in RDR2 with the help of AI.
- The mod features completely overhauled NPC mechanics, gang wars, and eight active factions.
- Every NPC gets a name, a backstory, memory, temperament, and unique personality.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of Rockstar’s finest works yet and among the best AAA titles ever released. While the game’s NPC encounters and relationships still hold up to this day, the scripted nature of these mechanics means you eventually experience all of them.
A modder has now added the Shadow of War’s popular Nemesis system to the game that aims to solve exactly this dilemma. It introduces emergent NPCs with unique names, backstories, personalities, and lasting memories.
Why it matters: RDR2 already features some of the most in-depth NPC mechanics, so the addition of a Nemesis-style system completely overhauls the entire experience. Every NPC feels even more lifelike with lasting relationships instead of the standard one-time encounters.

Modder nicklovin99 created the enRage mod using AI, which changes how NPCs work outside of story missions. Each NPC has their own routine and relationships, and you can get to meet them again over the course of your playthrough.
Therefore, your past encounters with NPCs will shape how they behave with you. Piss someone off enough times, and they might come for you or hire bounty hunters to get rid of you instead.
A living world and nemesis system for RDR2. Every NPC gets a name, a temper and a mind shaped by a life lived before you rode in.

Additionally, the emergent system introduces non-scripted gang wars, eight major active factions, and smaller groups. Rivalries with hierarchies forming organically over time—with or without your intervention.
They remember what you did and will cross your path again. Some will like you, some will fear you, some will want you dead.

Each save gets its own world history that evolves over time. Regardless, the mod is currently in early access, and the step-by-step instructions to download and get it running are listed on the Nexus page.
