Another Big Xbox Exclusive For 2024!

Story Highlights
  • The first gameplay for Indiana Jones will be showcased on 18 January.
  • According to a reliable source, the game is coming out in 2024.
  • An official announcement should be made at the Xbox Developer Direct.

Xbox has just announced a new Developer Direct. Following its event from last year, we know that this mini-showcase will highlight games released this year with deep dives and developer footage.

However, MachineGames’ Indiana Jones will also be featured at the event. Nobody expected to see this title show up so soon, and a report suggests that it will be released this year.

Why it matters: Xbox already has quite a compelling first-party lineup. Adding Indiana Jones to this list, Microsoft might be able to completely outclass the competition in terms of exclusive offerings this year.

During the Developer Direct, Microsoft will debut the first gameplay premiere for Indiana Jones. Last year, Todd Howard already teased a potential gameplay reveal, and it seems Microsoft has wasted no time in proving his words correct.

Additionally, the gaming giant will reveal details about the game’s settings and story, highlighting behind-the-scenes footage and developer opinions, staying true to the format of the Developer Direct.

Past leaks confirmed that Indiana Jones was scheduled to be released earlier than 2023. However, the pandemic and shifting landscape of ZeniMax Media meant that this game could not come out as it was initially intended.

Indiana Jones

In 2024, the game will be available as an exclusive first-party release on Xbox Series S|X and PC. Despite a PlayStation version existing at some point, the game was canceled for this platform and will only be available through the Xbox ecosystem.

Indiana Jones is expected to combine first and third-person gameplay elements. MachineGames excels in the former, proving its expertise through the punchy and refined gameplay of the modern Wolfenstein series.

With the Xbox Developer Direct now just over a week away, we will soon be able to judge Indiana Jones for ourselves. The game has the potential to rival the explosive action of IPs like Tomb Raider and Uncharted, becoming Xbox’s own signature action-adventure series.
