Hi-Fi Rush Was Not A Financial Success, Claims Report

Didn't Make The Money It Needed To Make?

Update:-

Following the discussion around Jeff Grubb’s statement, Aaron Greenberg from Xbox Games Marketing has stated that Hi-Fi Rush was a break out hit.

While exact figures and numbers still remain a mystery, Aaron Greenberg claims that Hi-Fi Rush met all key measurements and expectations.

Original Story:-

Hi-Fi Rush, the latest game by Tango Gameworks, was one of the best-rated releases of 2023. While the game initially took the industry by surprise, launching with overwhelmingly positive reviews and becoming 5th top-selling game on Steam, it reportedly did not meet Microsoft’s sales expectations.

In the latest episode of his podcast, Jeff Grub claimed that Hi-Fi Rush was not a financial success.

“Based on what I’ve heard, it just didn’t make the money it needed to make”

The other guest on the podcast, Mike, also said that Hi-Fi Rush was too good of a game to be shadow-dropped. The game would have been more impactful if Xbox and Tango Gameworks had not presented it as a small game that didn’t even get a marketing campaign.

Another possible explanation is the game’s lower price and availability on Game Pass at launch. As the game is already available through this subscription service, most players may have opted for it rather than purchasing it separately.

Despite Jeff’s claims, Senior vice president of Development at Bethesda Todd Vaughn stated in a recent email that Hi-Fi Rush has been one of the most successful launches for both Bethesda and Xbox in recent years.

He also said the game generated significant positive momentum for the business and the studio. As such, it might be best to take the leaker’s word with a grain of salt, despite his reliability in the past.

Hi-Fi Rush is also one of the highest-scoring Bethesda and Xbox games in recent years. Despite its supposed underwhelming financial success, the game is loved by many fans due to its unique gameplay and art style.

Have you played Hi-Fi Rush? Did you enjoy it? Let’s discuss this in the comments below.
