Halo Studios Taking a Page from Fortnite's Playbook!

Story Highlight
  • Halo Studios is allegedly launching a live-service title resembling Fortnite next year.
  • It’s unclear if the multiplayer game will have battle royale, but it will be a long-term live-service project.
  • The other rumored title to launch next year is the Halo CE remake, which will feature modern gameplay elements.

After the troubled release of Halo Infinite, the series has fallen far from its glory days. The leadership issues are still being reported, which continues to concern fans about its future. However, Halo Studios has allegedly been working on two new games to save the IP.

Reliable insider Rebs Gaming claims that the studios are also preparing a long-term live-service multiplayer game alongside the rumored Halo CE remake project. While it is not confirmed to be a battle royale, the live-service elements it features are similar to Fortnite.

Why it matters: If the multiplayer live-service entry turns out to be a massive win, it could give the IP strong new legs to stand on. The developers could take advantage of its success to focus on the Halo Infinite sequel or another mainline title in the future.

As explained in the video, the upcoming Halo event on October 24 will only showcase one of the titles the team has been working on, which is expected to be the Halo CE remake.

On the flip side, the rumored live-service game will likely only be announced as the second project that launches in 2026. No specific details are currently known about it, besides it being a multiplayer entry that receives new content for a long time.

A live service, long-term updating multiplayer game is in the works. Its live-service component is like Fortnite.

The Halo CE reboot is being co-developed by Virtuous, a full-on remake project like the Resident Evil games. It will also include modern gameplay mechanics like sprinting.

Halo Infinite Finally Profitable
Halo Infinite only became profitable late last year.

Rebs Gaming also reveals that both these games are allegedly using generative AI in every aspect of development to meet tighter deadlines set by Microsoft. However, it’s unclear if that will affect the quality of the final projects.

Do you think the new Halo multiplayer game will prove to be a massive success like the established live-service giants, or will it fade into obscurity soon after launch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
