Halo’s comeback next year has been in the news for a while now, with Halo Studios announcing that fans will get a glimpse of the IP’s future at the World Championship on 24th October.

Players do have an idea of what’s coming, with a Halo: Combat Evolved remake and a multiplayer game confirmed to be in the works, as per many insiders. However, new info has come out that suggests Halo Studios could be utilizing AI in the development of these titles.

Why it matters: One of the biggest companies in gaming using Generative AI to this extent is worrying for the industry’s future.

As per reliable Halo Insider Rebs Gaming, Generative AI is apparently “woven into every aspect” of the two upcoming Halo games. The developer has been using the technology to develop many important facets of the new titles, including enemy AI and terrain generation.

Generative AI is apparently woven into every aspect of development, such as enemy AI and terrain generation.

The leaker’s source further explained that Halo Studios is heavily using AI and then touching up whatever remains with human hands. One reason for such excessive usage of the tech is that the developers have quicker deadlines to meet, and the only way to achieve their goals is through generative AI.

Of course, as of now, this is just a rumor, but the details do fall into Microsoft’s wider plan of utilizing AI in the company.

Rebs also gave some new details regarding the new Halo products, saying the multiplayer game will function as a live-service title similar to Fortnite. At the same time, the Combat Evolved remake is set to include modern features like sprinting and is being developed in Unreal Engine 5.
