Halo: Campaign Evolved Has Sold Just 1.2 Million Units So Far

Sales Split Across PS5 and Xbox Series S|X Is Nearly 1:1!

Story Highlight
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved is estimated to have sold 1.2 million units since release.
  • The game seems to have sold a similar number of copies across both PS5 and Xbox Series S|X.
  • It also reached just 2 million players on Game Pass, leading to $67 million in revenue overall.

Nearly one month after its release, Halo: Campaign Evolved has clearly not been the return to form that Xbox had been hoping for.

Thanks to a release bogged down by technical problems and unfortunate timing that put it right in the face of competition from classic Black Ops titles, Halo’s first remake has landed rather short of expectations. As per analysis from Alinea Analytics, the game has managed to sell just 1.2 million units so far.

Why it matters: Xbox undoubtedly had lofty expectations for the first Halo remake, especially since it marked Halo’s debut on PlayStation after more than two decades.

The First Big Remake Hasn’t Sold The Best

As shared on Twitter via Rhys Elliot, Halo: Campaign Evolved’s total sales have stagnated around 1.2 million units. Although this figure is by no means terrible, it is quite underwhelming for Xbox’s flagship IP.

Interestingly, the report suggests the game has had quite an even sales split across consoles, both on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X, with Steam accounting for the remaining 17.4% of sales.

It is also said that over 2 million have played the Halo remake on Game Pass, another underwhelming figure given the number of subscribers on the service at any given moment.

All of this means that Halo: Campaign Evolved has made around $67 million in revenue.

Halo Campaign Evolved Has Been A Letdown

Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliot believes that Halo: Campaign Evolved was ultimately held back due to its price being higher than Halo: The Master Chief Collection and the lack of multiplayer.

As per the analyst, if Halo 2 Remake does indeed launch with multiplayer modes, the game should perform quite a bit better across all platforms. Of course, there’s no telling if one will release to begin with, especially with how unimpressive Halo Studios’ first shot at a remake has been.
