God of War Ragnarok is set to release in just a few weeks. The game will conclude Kratos’ latest adventure, and expectations are sky-high for PlayStation’s upcoming release.

Reviews for the upcoming title are scheduled to go live soon, but gaming media sites have just confirmed some more details about God of War Ragnarok. According to Press Start Australia, God of War Ragnarok will feature four separate graphics modes on PlayStation 5.

God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok will include the following graphics and performance modes.

  • Favor Resolution – 4K/30 FPS
  • Favor Performance – 60 FPS
  • Favor Resolution(High Frame Rate) – 4K/40 FPS
  • Favor Performance (High Frame Rate) – 120 FPS Target

It should be noted that the high frame rate modes require HDMI 2.1-supported displays. The source has also reported that the game supports VRR displays, providing a solid experience at the 4K/40 FPS mode.

At the moment, exact resolutions have not been revealed. It was previously rumored that God of War Ragnarok would utilize dynamic resolution to aim for 4K/60 FPS. Still, the recent preview has not provided many details about the specific resolutions.

Going by past releases, it would not be far-fetched to expect some form of dynamic resolution. Press Start has also reported that the God of War Ragnarok game does not suffer a massive drop in visual fidelity when playing in performance mode.

Frame Rates and resolutions have been a hot topic recently. Earlier this week, the gaming industry was furious at Gotham Knight’s 60FPS exclusion. A few days later, A Plague Tale: Requiem launched without a 60fps mode, adding to the initial disappointment. The latter can run up to 40fps, but fans will be glad to know that Sony has not cut corners with proper performance on PlayStation 5.

God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok will conclude the beloved character’s journey in the Norse realm. The upcoming game is expected to be much bigger, taking up nearly 120 GB on PlayStation 4. With the forthcoming title, fans can expect everything they have come to love from the previous God of War release.

The game is set to release on November 9, 2022, and audiences can learn more about God of War Ragnarok in just a few days when the reviews go live.
