Free DLC Also Coming On 12 Dec!

Story Highlights
  • God of War Ragnarok has reached 15 million units sold in a little over a year.
  • The developers have also announced their first DLC during The Game Awards 2023.
  • This DLC will be released in just four days.

God of War has been one of Sony’s most successful first-party IPs, and the latest release in the franchise, God of War Ragnarok, has celebrated its first anniversary recently.

Following recent rumors about a new DLC for God of War Ragnarok being announced in December, Santa Monica has revealed more details at The Game Awards. The studio has announced a free addition to the game and confirmed a new milestone.

God of War Ragnarok has now sold over 15 million units.

Why it matters: This latest milestone shows that Kratos and his adventures continue to influence millions of gamers. While single-player titles typically lose their appeal over time, this entry is still boasting new milestones.

The DLC mode, God of War Ragnarok Valhalla, will arrive on 12 December. In addition to this content, PlayStation has announced the latest sales milestone on the PS Blog. It states:

“As of November 19, God of War Ragnarok has sold through more than 15 million units.”

The developers highlighted that the latest free DLC shows their appreciation to the fans worldwide.

It adds rogue-lite elements to God of War Ragnarok and allows Kratos’ combat to shine brighter than before. With multiple styles of gameplay, this DLC will ensure players can explore the depths of this combat system.

God of War Ragnarok had an impressive start, selling over 5.1 million copies in the first week of its release. In February, the game reached 11 million sales, and an additional 4 million copies have been sold in the last few months.

For this DLC, Santa Monica sought to create something unique for the IP.

Therefore, fans can expect a massive change compared to the traditional God of War gameplay. Nonetheless, we believe the game mode will be worth trying, especially for those invested in learning combat systems and mastering challenges.

The DLC will arrive on 12 December as a free add-on, expanding the incredible universe of God of War. This should provide fans with a nice excuse to jump back into the game and explore it from a different perspective.
