  • The winner will be revealed at The Game Awards set for December 11, 2025.

It’s that time of the year again, when one title rises above all to win the Game of the Year award. 2025 has been one of the finest years for gaming, especially highlighted by lower-budget and indie titles, but there were brilliant AAA releases, too.

Geoff Keighley has officially revealed the nominees for the Game of the Year 2025 award, highlighting that the list includes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, but there have been some snubs as well.

Why it matters: Most fans will be happy with the list, as it includes the year’s top-rated games. However, some will be disappointed by the absence of notable names.

The nominees for Game of the Year 2025 are now official

The Game Awards 2025 are officially set to take place on December 11, 2025, and the list of nominees for the prestigious award includes:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  • Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
  • Donkey Kong Bananza
  • Hades 2
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

This is one of the most solid lists in recent years, and everyone has a fair chance to win. Interestingly, out of the six nominees, only 2 are AAA titles, 3 are indie titles, and one is a Switch exclusive title.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is widely considered the most solid nominee

Notably, this year’s snubs include Ghost of Yotei, which received solid reviews and was dubbed an upgrade over its predecessor. The other notable name missing is Split Fiction, one of the highest-rated Metacritic titles for 2025.

Nonetheless, it’s a pretty solid list, and most people are already betting on Expedition 33 to take the accolade. However, the final results will be revealed at TGA, which is less than a month away.
