Critics Crown MindsEye As 2025’s Lowest-Rated Game On Metacritic

MindsEye Only Has A 37 Metascore!

Story Highlight
  • MindsEye has become 2025’s lowest-rated game on Metacritic based on its disappointing 37 Metascore.
  • Tamagotchi Plaza on Switch 2 has the second-lowest Metascore at 43, followed by Ambulance Life: A Pandemic Simulator at 44.
  • Build a Rocket Boy’s first project was an all-out disaster at launch because of bugs and optimization issues.

Many gamers were cautious but excited to see how GTA producer Leslie Benzies’ new studio debut, MindsEye, would pan out. The game’s launch was not only disappointing, but it turned out to be an unprecedented disaster for everyone involved.

MindsEye has now devolved to become the lowest-rated 2025 game on Metacritic. It is currently sitting at a disappointing 37 Metascore on the review aggregator site, with no other AAA experience having a similar abysmal rating.

Why it matters: Mindseye being 2025’s lowest-rated entry once again confirms that MindsEye has been the worst failure so far. Many developers have claimed that crunch culture and abuse from executives led to this mess.

MindsEye has the lowest Metascore out of all other 2025 releases yet.

As per a list published by Metacritic, Tamagotchi Plaza on Switch 2 has the second-lowest Metascore at 43, followed by Ambulance Life: A Pandemic Simulator at 44 on PS5.

MindsEye became the lowest-rated game on Metacritic right after launch. So, the new results also show no one has been able to surpass it yet.

The game’s User Score was also the lowest for most of the year at 2.5 until Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 recently dethroned it with a surprising 1.7 user rating on Metacritic.

On a side note, the open-world experience was so disappointing that it made IO Interactive lose interest in publishing third-party entries.

MindsEye was full of bugs and optimization issues after launch.

The developers behind the project have since claimed that toxic management has led to this failure. Therefore, the team believes that fans should not expect a Cyberpunk 2077-like redemption arc in the future.

On the flip side, the studio CEO blames saboteurs for the failure and plans to relaunch the game in the future. The updates so far have been lackluster and failed to generate any hype needed to revive interest in MindsEye.

Do you think MindsEye deserves the Metascore it has on the review aggregator site? Is there any other game that should be at the last spot? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
