Final Fantasy 16 Xbox Release Is Inevitable, Says Industry Insider

Only A Matter Of Time Before The Announcement!

Story Highlight
  • Final Fantasy 16 was released as a PlayStation exclusive last year.
  • In addition to the PC version, a port for Xbox is reportedly being worked on.
  • This is not the first time an Xbox release for Final Fantasy 16 has been discussed.

Final Fantasy 16 was released as a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive last year. Since its exclusivity contract is about to end, the PC port is already in the works. Following the game’s first anniversary, it seems the developers are also looking forward to an Xbox version.

While the game director has previously teased Final Fantasy 16 for Xbox, a new leak has provided more evidence that an announcement is coming soon.

Why it matters: Exclusivity hasn’t worked too well for Square Enix, as the publisher’s stock hit its lowest in over a decade following the disappointing release of its recent AAA titles. Therefore, launching its games for a bigger audience might be the right approach.

Final Fantasy 16 Has Long Been Requested For Xbox

Recently, one of the fans commented that Xbox is leaving exclusivity behind and releasing its game on PS5, so it would only be fair if third-party titles like Final Fantasy 16 were released for Xbox fans.

One of the most reliable leakers, NateDrake, has replied to this statement and stated that the title will be released on Xbox soon and that an official announcement is imminent.

Although this is still a rumor, considering the credibility of the leaker and previous statement from the franchise director, it appears that Xbox fans are indeed going to get their hands on Final Fantasy 16. When that is going to happen, however, remains to be seen.

Not too long ago, Square Enix confirmed that it would leave exclusivity behind and focus more on releasing its titles on multiple platforms to reach a much bigger audience. Therefore, we can expect to see multiple titles from the franchise released on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC in the near future.

With Gamescom coming up, an announcement could be made as early as this month. Xbox has a major presence at this event, and Square Enix would benefit from all the attention this event typically draws.

If nothing else, the gaming giant should be gearing up to share more information about the PC port.
