Fable Will Follow The Multiplatform Approach!

Story Highlight
  • Xbox is reevaluating its approach to exclusives under new leadership, but Fable remains unaffected.
  • Playground Games confirms it is still set for a PS5 launch even after recent developments.
  • Some Xbox users are unhappy with this confirmation, demanding that the CEO cancel the PS5 port.

Fable is one of Xbox’s most ambitious projects to date in this console generation, and gamers across all platforms are excited to experience the reimagined world of Albion. But recent developments in the Xbox ecosystem left its platform strategy uncertain.

As we know, the new Xbox leadership is reevaluating its approach to exclusives, with CEO Asha Sharma hearing fans who want first-party games to become locked to the platform. However, Playground Games confirms that Fable is still set for a PS5 release.

Why it matters: It appears that upcoming Xbox blockbuster releases confirmed for a multiplatform launch will still arrive on PS5, despite the leadership’s emphasis on exploring exclusives moving forward.

The official Fable handle answers a fan query on Twitter, confirming that the reboot will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, Steam, and even PlayStation

On a side note, Playground also confirmed elsewhere that Fable is still set for a 2026 release despite rumors of delays.

Regardless, the reconfirmation of a PS5 release has seen overwhelming praise, but some Xbox users are equally unhappy with Fable’s continued multiplatform focus.

Users have argued that Fable should have been an Xbox exclusive for the 25th anniversary, dubbing the multiplatform launch a poor decision by previous leadership. Meanwhile, some fans are asking Asha Sharma to cancel the PS5 port entirely.

These Xbox users are upset since they would not get to play Saros, Marvel’s Wolverine, or Spider-Man titles on Xbox anyway.

And tensions surrounding Xbox’s multiplatform strategy are also escalating since Sony is completely dropping its first-party multiplatform strategy moving forward.
