After Nintendo Switch’s dominion over the handheld gaming scene, all eyes were heavily anticipating the console’s next iteration. Unfortunately, the vague reveal did not answer many of the community’s desperate questions.

Now, the Nintendo president and CEO, Shuntaro Furukawa, has come forward to reassure fans on one major concern. He clarified that launching exclusive games remains the biggest priority for Switch 2. In other words, the company will rely on the same strategy it has used for the original Switch platform all these years.

Why it matters: The Nintendo president’s remarks have reassured many fans who were worried about his strategy regarding Switch 2. This is important because Xbox and PlayStation lacked major exclusives for their latest consoles during the first few years.

We have already announced Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4 Beyond for Nintendo Switch in 2025.
We will continue developing Nintendo Switch titles, but launching exclusive games for Nintendo Switch 2 is essential for its success.

However, this does not mean that Nintendo Switch will be left behind to gather dust on our shelves; the CEO said that the company will continue producing Switch games in the future. He is aiming for a smooth transition by the community between both platforms.
