EA Has Faith In BioWare's Latest RPG!

Story Highlight
  • According to EA, demand for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is already quite strong.
  • The company states that pre-orders are within expectations.
  • This has led to high expectations for financial results in Q2 FY25.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard marks BioWare’s long-awaited return to gaming after two back-to-back disappointments. This RPG follows up on the well-received Dragon Age: Inquisition, promising to expand on the team’s critically acclaimed RPG formula.

With impressive gameplay, a focus on PC gaming, and other encouraging updates, it seems BioWare is gearing up to launch a worthy addition to its RPG lineup. Amid the excitement, EA also suggests that demand for the RPG is strong.

Why it matters: Recent reports suggested that Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s pre-orders were far from impressive. The official statement suggests otherwise.

The Latest Dragon Age Entry Has Been In The Works For Many Years

During the latest EA Investor Day, the publisher discussed various parts of its business, including the demand for future Battlefield titles. EA talked about BioWare’s latest RPG title in a similar vein.

Pointing to the recently released previews, the company noted that demand for Dragon Age is currently high despite the IP’s long hiatus. For context, the last entry was released nearly a whole decade ago.

We are already seeing strong demand on the largest platforms.

The gaming giant also praised BioWare, stating that the team’s latest work puts its talents front and center. All of this has resulted in pre-orders being well within the publisher’s expectations.

As mentioned earlier, this statement conflicts with recent reports.

As such, it will be interesting to see how this RPG performs next month. It is important to note that interest in the genre is higher than ever following the incredible success of titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Elden Ring in recent years.

With BioWare’s upcoming release drawing closer, EA has set expectations high. Thanks to this title and others like EA Sports FC 25, the gaming giant is now gearing up for net bookings that are on the high end for Q2 FY25.
