Lectures You on How To Properly Apologize!

Story Highlight
  • A quite controversial 2-minute Dragon Age: The Veilguard video has surfaced online.
  • The game actually lectures you for two minutes on how to apologise after you misgender someone.
  • Fans have been heavily criticising this video ever since it has surfaced.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is one of the most criticised titles of 2024. The Dragon Age franchise has a massive fandom that has been awaiting a new entry in the franchise. However, many of the fans aren’t that hyped about The Veilguard.

Given how big the fandom is and the review scores have been quite positive, it seems like this title will be a solid hit. However, a quite controversial 2-minute clip has surfaced online.

The game will lecture you for 2 minutes and tell you how to apologize if you misgender someone or use the wrong pronouns

Why it matters: Forcing agendas like these is the exact reason why fans don’t like DEI in video games anymore.

As you can see in the video above, the game is getting a lot of heat due to this particular clip. Fans are actually flabbergasted by this as they think it isn’t even realistic. The fandom thinks they no longer try to hide their agenda.

The video starts with one of the characters misgendering the other character, and that’s where the lecture starts.

She’s still holding the ruby in her other hand. Ah, shit. They. They’re still holding it. Sorry.

BioWare Seems To Have Not Given Review Copies To More Critical Reviewers

The one who misgenders then goes on and pulls a barb instead of apologising, implying that action matters more than words. The main character is then given an option to ask, ‘Any reason you can’t just apologize?’

Sometimes people say, oops, sorry, and hope that fixes it. But they just want to get the whole thing over with.

The character further explains that by pulling a barf, you sweat a little, and it gives you some time to think about what you have done, as this shows the other person that you mean it

Many fans have criticised this clip, with one even questioning how this could be added to a video game. This is now being called the worst scene in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

What do you think of this 2-minute clip lecturing players on how to apologize for misgendering someone? Do you think such things are meant to be in video games? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section or join the official Tech4Gamers forums
