CDPR Refers To The Sequel As Cyberpunk 2!

Story Highlight
  • It has been a while since CD Projekt Red revealed new information about the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
  • The developer recently revealed that Cyberpunk 2 has entered the pre-production phase.
  •  This means that the sequel is still pretty far away.

Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably one of the greatest games to ever exist. While its release was clunky, CDPR redeemed itself, and shortly after fixing the base game, it gave the fans one of the best DLCs in gaming history.

That is precisely why the fandom is patiently waiting for its sequel’s release, which is pretty far away. However, we just received an update from the studio, and Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, Project Orion, has entered the pre-production phase

Why it matters: Fans want to know when they will be able to get more Cyberpunk experience from CDPR, so updates like these matter a lot.

Project Orion, Cyberpunk 2, is still very far from its release date.

One slide in the latest investor relations presentation revealed that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has entered the pre-production phase

Cyberpunk 2 has entered pre-production phase.

This just reveals that the next iteration of the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise is very far away. Most of the studio’s employees are busy on The Witcher 4, which has already entered full production. Cyberpunk 2 has entered the pre-production phase, which is entirely different from full production

In the pre-production phase, the developers don’t build a final project but test different things. You can also call it a stage where they implement different ideas and then move on with what they like the best

While we’d love to know more about the game’s setting, a lot remains unknown. CD Projekt Red is referring to it as Cyberpunk 2, so it’s safe to assume it will occur in a futuristic world. However, specific details about the setting remain scarce for now.

The game is still years away, as we will be getting the highly anticipated Witcher 4 first. What do you think about the fact that the project Orion has entered the pre-production phase?
