Don't Expect RE5 And RE6 Remakes Anytime Soon!

Story Highlight
  • A reliable insider has stated that Capcom currently has no plans to remake Resident Evil 5 and 6.
  • It is said that Capcom is focused only on remaking Resident Evil 1, Code Veronica, and Zero for the next 5 years.
  • Demand for these games could lead to remakes in the future, but nothing is planned for now.

Capcom has been on a major winning streak with its remakes, with Resident Evil 4 being a shining example of the publisher’s re-releases. Following sequential remakes of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th mainline entries of the series, many fans are now anticipating a Resident Evil 5 remake.

However, a prominent insider suggests that this is not currently something Capcom is committed to or particularly interested in.

Why it matters: A remake based on Resident Evil 5 has been hinted at for a while, and many fans even believed Capcom was setting up this project in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

RE5 Fans May Have To Wait A Long Time For A Remake

The latest update comes from insider Dusk Golem via Resetera, who accurately revealed several pieces of information regarding the series in the past.

As per the insider, Capcom does not typically think too far ahead and limits its plans to 5 years in the future at most. He states that the gaming giant does not necessarily have an idea for Resident Evil 5 or 6 within this timeframe.

Dusk Golem reiterated that Resident Evil 1, Code Veronica, and Zero are currently the only titles being remade within the studio. Among these, the Code Veronica remake has already been announced.

Capcom has no idea what they want to do with RE5 and RE6 in remaking them, if they ever decide to do them.

Although some may be disappointed, the leaker still admitted that Capcom is likely to consider a Resident Evil 5 remake at some point later down the line due to persistent fan demand. This demand is also expected to increase once the next three remakes for the series are released.
