With Call of Duty Black Ops 6 coming soon, the rumor mill is in full swing. Black Ops 6 has long been rumored for Xbox Game Pass, and executives like Phil Spencer have done little to help the situation amid their many hints.
After a long wait, Xbox has finally announced Call of Duty Black Ops 6 for Game Pass.
Why it matters: Call of Duty is one of Microsoft’s biggest franchises, so its arrival on Game Pass can be the boost this service has needed all along.
The announcement comes from Xbox itself. The wait is finally over for those wondering whether the game would be coming to Game Pass or not. Following this inclusion, many new players are likely to try the series.
Moreover, a new live-action trailer has been debuted for Black Ops 6. While this trailer does not show much, it promises more information on June 9, the day of the Xbox Games Showcase and the Call of Duty Direct.
Modern Warfare 3, while a commercial success, was not an ideal release. Its campaign was disappointing, which may have pushed some fans away from the IP. However, with the latest entry heading to Game Pass, such fans may give the series one more chance.
Black Ops 6 depicts events from the Gulf War, which has the potential for deeper storytelling and more compelling characters.
Elsewhere, Xbox has yet to comment on the older Call of Duty entries. We expect more clarification on this matter next month.
It should be noted that one report highlighted new Game Pass tiers would be introduced just for Call of Duty and that another price hike would be coming. While this might seem unfair to some, this should help Game Pass stay on its feet in the longterm.
