- Black Ops 6 is said to require a whopping 310GB of storage on Xbox.
- The game will join Call of Duty HQ, which may be the reason for this abnormal file size.
- Going by the file size, this entry could offer the most content in a Call of Duty to date.
Black Ops 6 has just received an extensive gameplay overview. Treyarch and Activision have confirmed many details on the latest entry in this long-running franchise, but one detail has stuck out.
Over on the Xbox website, Black Ops 6 is said to take up a whopping 310GB. This also makes it the biggest game any studio has put out.
Why it matters: Modern games typically take up 100GB or more. However, no other AAA release can claim to require a whopping 300GB.
According to Xbox, console users need a whopping 309.85GB of free space to install Black Ops 6.
This is surprising, even for a franchise that has developed a reputation for abnormally large file sizes. What’s interesting here is that Treyarch’s latest release will join the Call of Duty HQ platform.
This file size could be a direct result of this integration. On the other hand, it could also mean that Black Ops 6 takes up this much storage when combined with other Call of Duty titles.
Whatever the case may be, if the nearly 310GB requirement proves to be accurate, fans should prepare their storage devices.
It may be worth looking into a separate expansion for die-hard Call of Duty fans. The game arrives in October 2025, so fans still have plenty of time to prepare their consoles.
It is also important to note that this requirement reflects the file size for Xbox consoles. It remains to be seen if PlayStation and Steam users will need to free up a similar amount of space for Black Ops 6.
Black Ops 6 is looking like the most content-rich Call of Duty in many years. This is a nice change of pace after last year’s entry, which relied on a short campaign and recycled multiplayer maps.
Fans will also be able to find all of this content at no additional cost through Game Pass in October.
