Dragon Age Failure Continues To Haunt BioWare!

Story Highlight
  • BioWare has now reduced its headcount to less than 100 people.
  • Many employees were ‘temporarily’ shifted to other teams.
  • They have now been told that the shifts are permanent, leaving the studio with a small team.

Once a legendary studio, BioWare has fallen from grace since the launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. After failed sales targets and several layoffs, a new report states that less than 100 people are left at the studio.

Why it matters: The next Dragon Age was supposed to be a massive comeback for the franchise, but it didn’t pan out that way and has seriously affected BioWare’s reputation.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Dragon Age: The Veilguard disappointed massively in every way.

Yesterday, it was reported that all the writers who worked on The Veilguard have been fired by the company. So, the staff, which was over 200 people a couple of years ago, has been significantly reduced.

A report from Bloomberg states that EA ‘temporarily’ put some of its employees in different teams and they would be returned to BioWare soon. However, the company has now informed the employees that the move has been made permanent

To return to BioWare, they’ll have to reapply if there is an opening at the studio. This has happened as the studio is now shifting its attention towards the next Mass Effect game. While most people still have a job, they aren’t too thrilled.

The employees say that they have been made part of a team they didn’t wish to join. However, that is still on the plus side, as many staff members were laid off recently, so at least many developers got to keep their jobs.

Dragon Age has led to many layoffs due to failure.

Nonetheless, the future of BioWare now looks a bit grim. The studio even pulled off from Dragon Age: The Veilguard support, and the production for Mass Effect isn’t reportedly starting any time soon.
