Baldur’s Gate 3 Becomes Second Best-Selling PS5 Game After Steam Release

Currently Beating Spider-Man In Pre-orders!

Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally launched on Steam, and it is massive on the platform. The game reached over 250K concurrent players on launch, making it the second-biggest Steam launch in 2023.

It will also be headed to PS5 on September 6. Exactly a month before its launch, the RPG has become the second best-selling game on PSN.

Why it matters: The Baldur’s Gate 3 hype is at an all-time high, with players calling it the most in-depth RPG game ever. This has led to the developers’ expectations being shattered as the game continues reaching new heights.

Following several years of early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 was finally released earlier this month. Several years of early access have allowed the team to refine the game, leading up to a whopping 17K potential endings.

Looking at the tweet, the RPG has surpassed highly anticipated games like Spider-Man 2 and Mortal Kombat 1 in pre-order counts. This is an incredible feat for Larian Studios.

At its current pace, the game has shown no signs of slowing down. As such, Baldur’s Gate 3 could eventually beat Madden 24 to claim the top spot on PSN for itself.

Not even a week has passed since the game’s release, and it has already broken its record for concurrent Steam players several times. The current peak stands at a massive 712K players.

Larian Studios anticipated a concurrent peak of 100K players, but the developers have underestimated their game. These achievements have also made Baldur’s Gate 3 a potential Game of The Year contender in 2023.

In addition to the PS5 release, ports for Xbox Series S|X versions are being worked on. However, the Xbox platform is unlikely to receive the game before 2024.
